Anyone had a BigToe Joint Replacement?

Anyone know about Big Toe Joint Replacement recovery time? Any successful ops?

Hi Julie  I've had both big toe joints replaced with ceramic implants.  It took around a month wearing a boot to get fully mobile again.  Both ops were fairly painfree, I just needed paracetamol after day 1 - not sure how anyone else has got on maybe I had a great surgeon!

Hi, Thanks for reply, how long did it take for you to walk pain free after op, I had the op 3 months ago, rotoglide imlant. Iv had setback with tendonitis and infection so toe still painful x

Is it because of osteoarthritis, does your big toe joint stick out.  Mine doesn't but i still am in pain if my shoes arn't right, I have a wardrobe full of shoes I cannot wear now.   I have to buy shoes where the leather doesn't join together about that place.

Haven't a clue just starting to deal with this now.  I honestly wish someone would answer the question.  I know someone who had an operation for a bunion privately and she was in a lot of pain.

Hi Yes I have osteoarthritis in both big toe joints, I did have bump on top of toes called bone spurs which form when arthritis is severe, I had these removed then had joint replacement, have u got osteoarthritis?

I have osteoarthritis in both of my big toes and have huge lumps.  I cannot wear heels of an kind anymore, haven't for about 3 years.  I too am thinking about surgery but have heard some horror stories!

Hi Lesley, are ur big toes painful every time u walk, mine are, even after the toe replacement joint op I'm still in pain but I'm told its early days, can take up to a year to get better. Dont let others put u off, I had no choice cos of the pain.
