I am due to start these tablets 15mgs after a bad reaction to sertraline. Now I'm scared of a horrendous experience again!!
My GP put me on Mirtazapine last year as i was struggling to get though the nights , i was on 15mg , then 30mg and now 45mg , i find that most nights i sleep well ( take them at nights ) , never had a side effects from then but the i have been lucky not to have experience side effects , bad reactions with any ante depressants , they didn't though help me through the day , my GP put me up to the highest in hope that they would carry over to the day so my psychiatrist put me on Venlafaxine 75mg a day and though i still get days when i struggle they have made me less irritable which i was before the day time antedepressant ( working along side Mirtazapine ) , when i last saw my Psychiatrist 3 weeks ago he wanted to reduce my Mirtazapine but i panicked so he let it go but i know next time i see him he will want to - i am worried that i may not sleep if
he eventually takes me off them . I think some people have found Mirtazapine unhelpful but we are all different and medications suit some of us more then others , and side effects differ as well , try and be positive and please just try them then if you are concerned after then you can return back to your GP and he can try a different tablet , take care xx
Thanks for that. I'm just looking for a little positivity to get me through this! I'm going to give it a fair go for a coule of weeks!!
Thanks again xx
I take 15 mg mirtazapine at night. For the first two days I felt quite dizzy but after that no obvious side effects and it helped me to sleep which was one of my problems. I found that sleeping better made me feel a lot better in the daytime. I know that a lot of people go onto higher doses but I decided not to.
I also meant to say that I tried citalopram which had horrible side effects for me. Different anti depressants affect people quite differently it seems. Good luck!
That is okay - as i said i think we need to try these tablets in order to find which one's suit or bodies, needs and which one's don't , you may fine that 15mg will be enough to cover like Linda says , it just that i was still struggling during the day , i still do some days . Take Care xx
Thanks Linda. Sleeping is sometimes an issue for me but I am currently super anxious and agitated and I'm hoping it will help with that it will help with that. I too have had a horrible experience on sertraline and citalopram. Thanks for responding.
Hi Donna, just wanted to say that getting the right meds for you can take some time unfortunately. All medication has possible side effects that vary person to person. I tried half a dozen different ones including Mirtazipine, Citalopram, Prozac and others before finding that Sertraline works for me. Admittedly I need a high dose but it helps and that's what matters.
Try not to worry (easier said than done, I know) but if you experience and adverse effects get in touch with your doctor immediately.
I wish you well and hope yours help you as mine do me.
