Anyone tried 'Clipper' drug?

I've been told that they are going to start me on a new alternative to steriods and azathioprine next week called Clipper/Beclometasone dipropionate. Has anyone else tried this and if so any luck? Any bad side effects?

Any info much appreciated x

I have started this new clipper drug this weekend as an alternative to prednisolone apparently as it has less side effects and better for you. I'm 12 weeks pregnant which maybe why they wanted me to try it. Have read it is more expensive for the nhs so think that's why no one else I know has tried it yet.

Will let you know how it goes!

It's day two, I take x1 5mg tablet a day which is a lot less than the usual pred dosage. Seems bleeding has stopped already which usually happens with the pred too. Still sore and swollen tummy.

Think I'm about 2 weeks into the 4 week treatment and bleeding hasn't returned and I feel a LOT better. Still bit of achy joints but only going about 3-4 times a day now. Sometimes less.

So same effect as pred but no side effects that I am aware of smile no swelling in face etc

Stop tablets after 4 weeks and good thing is as you only have to take one a day I don't have to gradually decrease my dose blah blah.

So if you get a flare up and are prescribed presnisolone, BEG for this clipper steriod (Beclometasone dipropionate) instead!

HI there

I have read your post from last year about the Clipper Pednisolone you went on whilst Pregnant at 12 weeks. I was wondering how you got on with it through pregnancy and was the baby ok? Hope you dont mind me asking its just i want to change to clipper rather thannthe standard prednisolone ive been on with my colitis for over a year, but my hospital wont let me as they have no experience of it in pregnancy. can you shed some light on it.

thanks in anticipation

Hi, my little one who is now 7 months old is absolutely fine and normal so I don't think clipper affected her at all. Unfortunately though, when I had another flare, clipper did not work sad I have since tried azathioprine and ciclosporin which also have not worked and so looking at surgery now. I think clipper is still worth switching to as all drugs become less effective over time. Good luck x
