My 6 year old has HSP, she seem's well considering, but the rash and swelling is unreal and look's terrible, I wanna help some how but other than pain killer's for swelling I have no idea what else I can do
My little girl (also 6 now) had (I'm tentatively using the past) HSP from January until very recently. I'm hoping she's now out of the woods but it's difficult to say as it comes and goes. Very stressful, very worrying. She had severe swelling and blotches (legs mainly) in waves but no problems with her kidneys (we did urine strip checks at home). All we did was treat the pain with nurofen, steriods are a bad idea we've been told by various docs.
The average duration is about 5 months and it's been hellish to be honest (she missed a lot of school) but I'm hoping it's now gone. Any advice I can give, just ask.
Hi how is your little girl now, our son who's 5 was diagnosed with HSP on 31st October 14 he has terrible rash that started on feet he now has them everywhere apart from his back and stomach he gets swollen joints ankles knees feet hands he had an ear infection that cleared up then he was rushed to hospital with swollen testicles to be told they couldn't do anything it was the HSP. Then the past 3 days the side of his head and face have been swollen I rang hospital they told me it wasn't HSP to contact gp went to gp she told me it had to be HSP it was probably his jaw swelling that has started to go down but yesterday his penis started to swell. We are at hospital today for a follow up I hope they can help a bit more than they have because they have not helped at all and I'm stressed to death I just don't know how to help him apart from giving him paracetamol and ibuprofen
How is it now? has it disappeared? don't panic too much the rash is not ON the skin but a pattern underneath so not painful or as bad as it looks, some times i look like raw mince, or that i have been badly burnt. but it is the other things that are the concern, i am sure as your child is 6 they will be very thorough with the kidneys. i notice your post is 7 months old so am sure or hope it has gone, how ever i am sure your dr told you it can reappear, watch out for infections of any kind even if a cut, sore throut or bug bite and get straight to the doctor.
