How does the price compare to using a simple vitamin? If it's more costly I think I'd go with the vitamin first and see how effective it is..
It was $11.45 for a box of 24, and from the reviews it is advised to cut them in three parts. They are evidently made for this treatment of Atrophy. I saw it on another menopause forum. I live in the US and have been searching for something to relieve this. I had Breast cancer 8 years ago, and can't use any kind of hormones.
I have inserted a vitamin E capsule for the last two nights and it completely disolves!
That's brilliant Sus28. Must admit I think I am doing better since I started using the Vit E. Think I started using it only a couple of days ago but already the symptoms seem to have eased. Onwards and upwards!
So glad to read that you seem to be getting some relief after a few days of use. Just make sure you use them regularly after having 'a pee'. I tried going 24 hours without using them as the AV symptoms seemed to have subsided but they quickly started to appear again so I am back to using them continuously. Hope you and the other ladies continue to get relief. Keep in touch.
Hi Gwen, Yes there seems to be some relief already. Glad you reminded us about using the capsules regularly after a pee though otherwise I can see I would have done like you did and tried not using them for 24 hours. Thanks Gwen. I hope the relief continues too. How long have you been using the capsules? Yes I will keep in touch.

Probably because PH of urine is high.
I see the website I shared was deleted by this forum. It wasn't a brand name, so I don't think it's helpful for them to do that. How else can we tell each other where to find info?
Been using them for about 2 weeks now and intend continuing with them. I have tried all sorts of creams which my Doctor has prescribed and whilst they have helped on and off, nothing has worked as well for me as the Vitamin E.
Yes Beverly, my urine PH is high. I bought strips online to test it but I don't know what foods or drinks to cut out to help reduce the acid in my urine. Anyone got any suggestions?
Hi Gwen, I am glad the capsules have worked better for you than what the doctor prescribed. I've only had GINEST cream and Vagifem tablets. I should use another of those tomorrow but theyve not had much effect on me so I might stop taking them and just keep going with the Vit E. God knows Gwen, apart from my bad hips leading to an hip replacement back in December, and anxiety for 3.5 years (Its been gone a few years now though) this Atrophy has been one of the longest lasting problems I have ever had! Thankfully the capsules might just be the answer. Shirley
How about drinking more water Gwen. Hang on whilst I google it.....
It says eat alkaline foods such as fruit and veg to neutralise the acid. I would have thought fruits were acid!
You ladies have inspired me to try the vit E. I was surprised to find that they were pricier than many of the other vitamins. Went with the least expensive 400 IU. I actually have only a mild discomfort that comes and goes, but if it works in severe cases I'm hoping it will be good for me in general. I also looked for the neutral PH wipes which they seem to no linger carry.

Glad you are going to try the Vitamin E Beverly. I am finding it is helping me. This VA has been one of the worst things to deal with. I am sure the Vitamin E will help you with more severe cases. I will also look for the wipes you mention.

Well, I did try one last night and was made so uncomfortable by it I had to take it out! Leave it to me to be the oddball. Instead I punctured it and used the oil externally. I wonder if I was having a reaction to the casing or if I just didn't get it up high enough (for obvious reasons). Will try again in a few days. BTW, I did notice Vit E sold in an oil form. That might be more convenient for those using it externally. Maybe it isn't as thick also.
I will certainly give vit E a try. I was prescribed Estriol cream every night for a fortnight then twice a week, inserted into Vagina. I did not realise I had an issue until I began a new relationship after over three years celibacy and found intercourse painful and actually impossible. This was distressing and embarrasing! I also use almond oil externally. It is a bit better but not totally satisfactory. Unlike som of you other ladies I have no pain or discharge at other times so am lucky. I will also look up vit e suppositories on google! Let us knowe how you get on.
Hope you get on ok next time you try with the capsules Beverly.I've not seen Vit E in a bottle yet but will have a look. I've done better with the Vit E than either of the things the doctor prescribed.
Sorry to hear about your problems Lynne. Glad you have no pain or discharge at other times though. My other problem with the atrophy is that I have days when I feel like I want to wee again, even when I've just been. Extremely irritating. Not heard of using almond oil till you mentioned it. But yes, so far so good with the Vit E capsules. Not perfect but a lot better than anything else I have tried. Hope you find the suppositories on Google.
Gwen, I have also found coconut oil to be effective. I think it may also have antibacterial properties. Organic is available and affordable. And you can cook with it!
I'm in the US so availabilty of products may differ. Not sure but the liquid may have come with a dropper in the bottle. If so that would be helpful. There were several brands on the shelf right next to the capsules and they may have been a bit less expensive. Have learned that E is also recommended for scar tissue.
