Please can some one give me advise, I am in a real state of panic, as I have to have an operation tomorrow a hip replacement, and my anxiety is through the roof. I am on Beta Blockers & am taking Diazepam.( 2 mg) which are useless !! I have suffered form anxiety since I was a child. So feeling very tigh chested and feel as though someone has grabbed me regards Amandah
Amanda, Please first know you are not alone, and it is going to be okay!! I too have had anxiety since childhood. Everytime I am in a very stressful situation, it gets worse. My surgery was emergency, so I did not have much choice. But I waited till I could not walk at all to go in, because the fear was greater than the pain. I remember arguing with the Dr that I was not ready. That is the last thing I remember. Next I woke up, and it was done. They will probably give you extra sedatives while you are in the hospital so your anxiety will be less. I will be praying for you, and that all goes well!! You are strong, and you have got this.
