I know it is not good to bend over and get things off the floor. But I am almost 3 months post op and doing better every day. I had to use a walker for 8 weeks because my femur bone cracked during the surgery. So no weight bearing on that leg. I am back to working with my home daycare with 7 kids a day. (I used to have 10) ages 2-6 years. Is it alright to bend over if we stick our leg out the back like a yoga pose? I have found that works well but was wondering if it is truley ok to do this!
That's what I was told to do and no trouble so far . Dr told me it would only dislocate if you bend straight down from the waist.
get the little darlings to play a hpgame and pick things up for you .
take care

Hi
interesting to read this. I am only 3weeks and a couple of days and when I turn sometimes I feel a sharp pain so I know not to do it. Suppose I am just anxious to get on and do things and everyone tells me just to chip away gently!
thanks.
I've been doing that. It doesn't hurt and feels ok, so will continue.
Hi Connie, yes I,m sure thats fine, I,ve been doing it that way really fron the start. I was just thinking how I would cope working with 7 kids, " think I,ll have a beer" haha

Hi Connie,
Good question - I was told the 90 degree rule was a guidance for 6 weeks, and can be relaxed after that. Other were told never go beyond it in squats or bends. As I wrote to Brian and Ali recently, messages from our medics are unclear.
Am going to ask again at my post op check in , at 8 weeks not six sadly, but still not too far away.

Hi, I have been bending down to pick things up for last few weeks. I am nearly nine weeks post op. just be careful and listen to your body. I started bending by extending my operated leg behind and that was fine. At my six week check I was told I could go back to doing things normally, which I have without problems. If I do overdo it, my body tells me! That's the best advice, listening to your body. Good luck x
I am just 2 years post op and trust me it does get better! My surgeon said it was best nit to start bending properly for around 3 months to pick things up from floor. He said I will find my own way of doing things but to be careful mire so for the first 3 months. So I took his advice and I am fine. I was and still am after all this time wary of dislocating but I doubt very much if that would happen now. Haha I went to Tunisia 4 half months later and went paragliding on the beach out to sea. It was painful but my daughter was terrified (25 years oldhaha) so I braved it. If that didn't dislocate I doubt much else will! Just be aware and be careful
Hello
Lovely to hear from someone 2 years into this journey!
I'm almost six weeks and yes, bending progressively easier as you say.
Can I ask about you and jogging, gym, etc?
Paragliding is fun and I certainly plan to do it again!

I would say it is completely okay. I have been bending like that for ages and I was told its okay to bend down properly after 6 weeks have passed. I still put my leg out at the back out of habit but don't worry about that, its fine.
You have to exercise and do things but rest is just as important . I didn t feel great 3 rd week , felt as if I was going backwards .
Does the the pain feel like musvle pain ? If so that's normal
good luck

12 weeks tomorrow
Hi Mic... gym is ok if done in moderation but I'm not sure on the jogging as it's low impact and quire harsh on your joints. I would check with your surgeon to be safe. I don't jog so I can't answer that one.
I'm 6 weeks today and have only bent maybe twice and put my operated leg out behind me when I've done it. I'm pretty sure I shouldn't have done it but I did it very slowly and carefully and it felt ok. I was told be bending at all but have my check up with my consultant on Friday so will see what restrictions if any can be lifted.

Hi again A,I , I am 11 weeks post op tomorrow hurray!
i still bend putting my op leg behind me , occasionally forget but feel more comfortable with leg behind me .
if you feel too much pain stop otherwise go for it

Hi Mary,
It must be good to be 11 weeks down the road to recovery. Well done you, you are an inspiration to us all!
That's the best piece of advice I've had in here is that if it hurts, don't do it.
Onwards and upwards
You are so kind saying that . Most restrictions were lifted for me at 6 weeks but didn't feel so good until about week 8 or 9 .
despetately trying to get fit so I can look after my youngest grand daughter again , she is 13 months and like a wind up toy. Her parents are both teachers and work long hours so want to make sure I am fit before I help out again .
Thanks again

Hi Shirley
Thanks for this. Plan bath this week, gym next week and jogging only after my post op check up.
Today had a routine blood test where nurse said wound healing 'delightfully'
