Hey everyone! Went for my pre op appointment yesterday.....everything looked good except iron was 11.8 and it should be 12. Going for an iron infusion Tuesday....although doc says surgery will not be cancelled because of this. Having my left hip replaced - leg shorter than right....right knee is bent to compensate for the left leg. Anyone else have this going on? I've lost 3-4 inches in my height which I should get back? Love my new doctor and i'm kicking myself for not going to him months ago. As always, thanks for your assistance! You guys are the best.........signed, Future Hippie
Hi Lizard,
My initial op (November 2015) had to be prosponed due to really low Iron like 5 or somthing so I had to take the aggressive Iron liquid which added like 6 shades to my complexion (Lol) as I was so unhealthly anaemic and ignorant to the several signs that my body was telling me like short of breath when talking .
At 11.8 it is good to hear they will go ahead with your surgery.
Once again God bless and good luck with your surgery.
Sounds good there Lizard. I think it should be a Liver and Guinness diet for iron?
It will be good to get your height back, someone stole over an inch from me in the last few years.
Don't kick yourself, you have your new doctor now, celebrate it. Then afterwards celebrate your new pain-free hip.

Woohoo Lizard,
Not long now then! I was counting down 6 sleeps to go, 5 sleeps to go - as if I was going on holiday. Then it was all over and I was on the road to recovery.
Soon you'll be walking tall and probably be forced to go out and buy new clothes. How awful that will be?
Sending hugs, Cels xxx
Great news Liz !!!!
No, don't kick yourself - Everything happens for a reason and is perfect the way it is !
SO happy for you!
Big warm hug

It will be here before you know it and then we will have a new hippie lol Any questions, just pop them on here and someone will be along to help.
All the best

Plenty of time for you body to take up that iron.
You need to eat more leafy greens, silver beet, yum yum, can give you the way i do it if you want, not Mum's way of trashing it, (watch out, be very careful if your are on asprin or blood thinning medication), red meat, and oranges, trying to convince myself here I think, oranges don't like me, and red meat give me indigestion/heartburn.
Amazing to learn that vitamin C helps your body process the iron in your diet and makes it pass into your blood stream, regular Dr told me this, pointless just taking iron tablets, you need Iron and Vit C together.
