I am five week post total vaginal hysterectomy. At three weeks I started with what appeared a uti. They treated and this continues in to bladder spasms and pelvic floor spasm that present as bladder urgency. Anyone else have this?
Hi Kerry.
I'm 5 wks post-op and currently taking antibiotics for UTI. Your symtoms are common to UTI infection. What antibiotics has your obgyn prescribed?
Also keep in mind your stickes are in the process of getting absorbed still which gives you the spasm senstion.
I first did a round of cipro and now am currently taking doxycycline for 14 days as they believe it may be an infection lingering in paraurethral glands. But apparently I have a tight pelvic floor spamming probably triggered by the uti. I am just wondering if anyone has had this before. This spasms can actually be felt in my vagina and urethra
Prior to my surgery I had few or repetitive UTI infectons. I had bad endometriosi where the tissues outside the uterus gor around my bladder, ovaries, fellopian tubes and gross intestine. Yach...SO, one of the symtoms when the UTI progressed was spasms in the bladder especially when the bladder was full. Don't mean to be indescreet but if you got intimate post surgery, could also be a contribuor factor. Current, UTI is pretty mild due to the cathater inserted in my bladder while I was admitted to the Hospital due to bleeding 2 wks ago. I'm doing fine now and the infection is clearing nicely. Give it couple more days for the antibiotics to kick in and the stickes to heal inside, if you had a LTH. Contact your doctor if you feel anything out of ordinary just to be on the safe side. My doc put me on Mono-NCR 100mg for a cultured E. Coli bacteria found in the urine at the time of my 4 wks post-up check-up. Hope this helps a bit.
Please take it easy. Don't lift, push etc......
Wish you a fast recovery.
Claudia
