Bleeding one week after period ended

I am 51. My period ended one week ago. It was a normal flow but lasted a day or two less than normal . Now one week later and I am bleeding! My dr cannot see me for almost 3 weeks! I am very nervous about this as I’ve read it’s a sign of the “c” word. I have mild ovarian cramping- not even enough to take tylenol for.

Hi Gina, I know the feeling. I started irregular bleeding months ago I've since been under a gynae doctor and have just had a hysteroscopy among other things and I'm waiting for the biopsy results. They found out I had fibroids after an ultrasound when I started my period less than 2 weeks after my normal period and then again after that. Needless to say I'm hoping I'm just in the perimenopause but it doesn't stop your mind racing.

During Feb and March I was on a week then off for a few days then on again and I'm currently having a gap of 2 weeks then 3 weeks.

During my hysteroscopy they put in a mirena as my periods have got really heavy compared to what they were and they did a smear as well as a biopsy.

The waiting is horrendous isn't it, my appointment's in 2 weeks and I'm really nervous as I've read about uterine cancer that is quite high in those that have never had children or been on the pill!

I would ring up again to see if you can get seen sooner, when I phoned the doctor  and had a telephone consultation she arranged an ultrasound with the symptoms that I gave and that I'd had an ovarian cyst years ago. I got an ultrasound within 2 weeks as well as having blood tests.

Let me know how you get on.

Thank you for your response. I finally ended up going to the ER bc I was passing clots, and flow was getting heavier. They didn’t find anything out of the ordinary, but they did find on the ultrasound that I have multiple cysts within an enlarged ovary! Now I have to go back in two weeks for a repeat ultrasound , and am facing possible surgery.

As far as my mind racing... you have no idea! I am an extremely anxious person and can’t stay off the internet! Enlarged ovary? Cancer! Cysts ? Can turn to cancer! Uggghh!!! I  can’t wait until this nightmare is over to get some sleep and peace of mind!!!

Good luck to you in your journey! Being a woman can sure suck!

Hi Gina

I know the internet is great but also makes you worry even more as everything is out there. I had ovarian cysts years ago but mine were blood filled so they disappeared on their own.

Its horrid isn't it the waiting, I know the surgeries that I've had before they haven't been as bad as I thought and they generally do it laparoscopically these days which is ok.

I've just got a week before my appointment and I hope that if there was anything bad that they'd contact me sooner.

Let me know how your ultrasound goes.
