Hi All,
Ive been on evorel patches now for about 7 months. I was ok for 1st 2 months but for the last 5 have had a “period” every 2 months!! 😩 until then I hadn’t had a period for near enough 2 years!! My night sweats have pretty much stopped and I don’t get the aches & pains in my legs & feet that i had before going on the patches, my mood also has improved. I also seem to be putting on weight which I really don’t need! I eat sensibly plus go to the gym twice a week. I try & diet but just seem bloated & bigger than ever which really does get me down. I’ve had numerous blood tests & an ultra sound regardithe bleeding but still have no answers. My dr is pretty much useless & just says I need to give the patches a little longer to see if symptoms stop! Or just come off them as there is no alternative treatment for me!! Any suggestions great fully received!!! Has anyone else experienced the same problems on these patches?
HI Angela,
I have heard of women gaining weight on those patches. Everyone is so different. Obviously the estrogen is stimulating the lining of your uterus enough to create a build up. Generally speaking it takes 2 months for the full effect. So it seems that when you hit that 2 month marker, you started getting "effects" you aren't happy with. But some that are good (pain, attitude, mood) Have you had your thyroid checked?
Hi Gailannie,
Thanks for your reply. yes, had thyroid checked. Did show levels weren't normal, so had another test and showed normal levels again. Got another blood test on Monday. I have discussed with my Doctor the possibility of having an under active thyroid. As I believe I may not even be on the correct medication. I know both the symptoms for menopause and thyroid problems are very similar.
Hi Angela
I have been on Evorel Conti for about 9 weeks and had a period which lasted about 6 days after being on it for 8 weeks. It may be a one-off I don't know. I was previously on Fem 7 which made me bleed after 5 mths only once so we shall see. Apart from low mood at times I can honestly say they are good and at least they have woken up the downstairs department a little lol!
I have an appointment at HRT clinic tomorrow so will see what they say. As for weight gain, that began about a year before HRT. I had always been a size 6 all my life and am now a 10 or sometimes 12. All the weight is round my middle which I hate! I think persevere. That's what I plan to do.
Good luck
Hi Angela, I had to stop Evorel for the reasons you mention, I was spotting/bleeding every few weeks, even getting period pains... I put up with it for 2 years and now I have stopped.Apparently Evorel has a particularly strong progesterone and it causes problems for a lot of women. I was ok for years on it but 2 years ago my GP asked me to stop. I did, and to cut a long story short. My symptoms came back with a vengeance so I had to start Evorel again and did so in varying doses hoping to get back to where I had been .. unfortunately my body never recovered and so for the last couple of years I have all the spotting/bleeding etc.So I stopped 2 weeks ago. I do hope you sort things out and wish you all the best.
I have just been prescribed these! My gp said that it can cause occasional or intermittent bleeding!
He said there is no evidence to suggest it causes weight gain so you could look at your mood; are you comfort eating, not doing as much due to tiredness from not sleeping, i would look at reducing calorie intake!
Ive not picked up my prescription of this yet as it wasn't available! I can only go by what the gp said!
Hi Angela have recently just started on Evoril Conti patches after being on Evoril Sequi patches for almost 2 years which agreed with me although I wasn’t too happy about the monthly bleeds. Doctor changed me over to Evoril Conti been on them only 9 days and have been bleeding now for 5 days and cramps as well, I’m 55 and think I’m menapausaul as last period was in oct 2015, started the Evoril sequi in April 2016 she did mention I might bled in first 3 months but I thought it would be just spotting, feel like coming off these patches if this continues but not sure if I can just come off them or could get worst symptoms, any advice welcome from people who have been on these. Thanks
Hi Donna. Evorel Sequi is prescribed for women who still have monthly periods not yet menopausal. I guess thats why you were prescribed them as you hadn't gone 12 months without a period. Evorel Conti is for menopausal women.
I was prescribed Evorel Conti 18 months ago at the age of 57 even though I'd only missed 3 periods, as the doctor thought I 'should' be menopausal. I spotted every 2 weeks for a day or two. I changed 7 weeks ago to Evorel 75 patch with Utrogestan 100 pill and have had one bleed for a few days 2 weeks ago.
There are women on here who still have monthly periods over 60 years old and I'm beginning to think I may be joining them. Most doctors seem to think we should be finished with periods in our mid 50's.
If you can stay with the Evorel Conti patch for a month and see how you feel I would do that. Then consider a different HRT if you still aren't happy.
Hope this helps a little and your bleed and cramps have stopped x
Hi Angela
I have been on Evorel Conti since October last year (I have not had a period in a few years and had an oopherectomy in February 2016) x
I have been bleeding on and off for the last 4 and a half months and extremely heavily x
The worst part being when I bled for 30 days straight and was so heavy I had to change my pad every 10 - 20 minutes x
I have had a scan but the sonographer focused purely on my endemetrious and said that was fine x
I have now been given extra oestrogen in the form of a gel to help stop the bleeding as my doctor thinks that I just needed more x
I am still bleeding though, just not as heavily x
My headaches and nosebleeds have also returned (I used to get them every now and then when I had ovaries but they are pretty constant at the minute) x
Anyways my point was maybe ask for a top up oestrogen gel? It might help? x
I was on Everol sequel but didn’t want periods so now a month of I had a period reduced to 3 days but have had the a The odd day spotting apparently it’s quite normal as the body needs about 6 weeks to adjust. All the horrible symptoms have gone. At the start prob about 2 months you can get mild headaches quite normal as the hormone change causes this. As far as weight gain goes I don’t think it should make a difference but hormones vary from person to person. I had no life till I took the patches so I’m all for them.for safety on be on them for five yrs then take a break. Good luck x
I think it sounds like you need to see a specialist gynaecologist bleeding that much they should be able to sort it out.sounds like an imbalance somewhere x
Hi Angela,
I only started them last week but I'm bleeding heavy I had a word with menopause nurse and she said if I. Still bleeding in a month to go back and see her.
I didn't expect to bleed at all
i started off on the two different patches a week, bled so heavy for 8 days on a 10 day period i decided no way. DOCTER THEN PUT ME ON THE EVOREL CONTI?
so much better only one average day and two spotting. TWICE A MONTH, so much lighter . Conti is supposed to stop your periods but not for everyone. if you were ok before the patches then i suggest to ask your docter to give you another make but not the combined one. its getting the hormone balance right.try not to worry. CHRISTINE X
Hi Angela
this is now happening to me nearly 2 years free and mow after 3 months of everol conti im having periods which they said i wouldnt get .
how are things now for you ?
Hi I started taking EVOREL CONTI 4 weeks ago and began bleeding heavily after 10 days. It hasn't stopped so I have not began the 2nd pack. Also put on 10 pounds in the first 2 weeks. Has not really resolved any of the issues I was advised it would. I'd rather put up with the night sweats
patches and tablets very from person to person one med does not fit all. i had regular periods on it and stated getting the burning face again so i was put on a great tablet that stopped my periods completely. Then the pharmacy could no longer get it. i was then put on Kilovance. been on it for 5 days no break hopefully it will be as good. AS FAR as gaining weight no change i am careful not to over eatand keep moving regularly hope this helps. keep going back to docter change ti find correct one to suityou
i ended up cutting the parches! my dr was useless so probably shouldnt have done but thought id try a "lower dose!" stopped bleeding , still keeps most of the symptoms at bay. most people i talk to on HRT have all had the same problems with weight gain & bleeding. i have joined a gym which has defo helped with muscle aches plus have lost weight!!
Hi Angela, I have been using Evorel Conti for 16 years. I had to stop for a while early last year as a Hysteroscopy found I had a very large polyp which was removed Feb 2018. I have started back on Evorel (I cut the patches in half) It is normal to bleed/spot for up to a year while they settle down. If you or any ladies here are interested I am a member of a private closed group on Facebook called Menopause Matters. i was concerned as doctor referred me to gyno as shouldnt have bleeding with the patches as i was 18 months or so free . Its such a mind field i only went on the patches as i wasnt coping in work :(
Hi Angela i have been on Evorel Conti for 3 months .I am 59 and had no periods for over 5years .What dose are you on? My menopausal symptoms had become too severe to cope with especially lack of sleep and flushes. The patches are working well and i feel great now bar the fact ive started bleeding quite a lot and have swollen boobs plus my ovaries seem to have reactivated with painful stomach ,my Dr said keep going see if bleeding persists but i thought i was not supposed to bleed? My dose is 50 micro , Any suggestions please .
