Bleeding

Question to all you ladies who  had vaginal hysterectomy.  Mine was done twelve weeks ago along with posterior and anterior repair.  After discharge from consultant at six weeks had intercourse and bled.  Hoped things would settle down so waited a while.  Now at twelve weeks it has happened again  and the bleeding was worse this time.  I did have a haematoma after the op.  Anyone else had this problem?

Hi

I had exactly the same operation in February but I haven't had any bleeding sorry I know that's not helpful but I'm sure someone will be able to help. Hope you get it sorted. I haven't had my post op appointment with my consultant yet!

Hi Clarissabelle

Sorry you are having a problem.  I haven't had bleeding, but I tried to insert my Estrogen applicator and I had terrible trouble it just would not go.  After having all my prolapses taken out of the way I thought I would have a clear run if you see what I mean.  Anyway my GP told me not to worry it can take months for the swelling in the vagina to go down, also it can be very sore, even though it does not feel particularly sore, also the stitches take a long time to dissolve fully, so you can get bleeding from this while having sex, or inserting applicators etc.  Apparently they tightened things a lot when sewing up and we have to wait until everything is fully healed and the vagina can stretch again.  Hope this helps.

Not a quick fix any of this is it?

Went to see GP today and had a long discussion.  He thinks hubby has burst the haematoma!!   Says it will happen again and not to be put off.  In fact he recommended twice a week.  Drew lots of diagrams of what had happened at the surgery and told me he used to perform hysterectomies.  Can t say I m totally reassured.  I would have preferred a referral back to the consultant and another ultra sound.

Hi Clarissabelle

Gosh, it doesn't get any easier does it, still I suppose you can say that Hubby scored a 'bullseye!'.

I assume the haematoma will get smaller and smaller as time goes by and wlth a bit of help from hubby!

Take care
