I wrote on hear a few weeks back. I explained that I was suffering from a blocked ear, I was using steroid nose spray all the time to unblock it and I was suffering from dizziness, reduced vision sometimes in one eye, foggy mind and anxiety.
It turns out the ear problem was a symptom of anxiety. I cannot believe it, I thought the ear was causing anxiety but it's the other way round. It turns out anxiety can trigger physical issues that you would never put together. I haven't had a single issue with my ears now since I learnt it's anxiety and it was really impacting my life before this for nearly a year. Now I'm being treated for anxiety, I notice that the dizziness happens when anxiety is triggered. Since I'm learning how to deal with it my life is becoming much better. Anyone that has anxiety as a symptom of a blocked ear please check this out. BTW I was so surprised I had anxiety because I'm so happy, confidant never had issues with it before so you just never know.
thanks for sharing that. I too sometimes wonder although i have a diagnosis of BPPV?MAV if my anxiety is also increasing my problems with balance. I don't feel stressed as such so it is hard to say. What treatement are you receivng for the anxiety?
I wasn't stressed and I'm still not, life is actually really good which is why I found it hard to understand why I had anxiety. One thing I noticed is when I start to feel anxiety, the symptoms come back to what I thought was a blocked ear, including dizziness, poor vision etc. It all started from when I had my first and hopfull my last panic attack, at which I was diagnosed with Lalabyrinthitis.
The treatment I'm currently having is some

The treatment I'm currently having is some COB, I really didn’t want to take medication. I started exercising, listening to meditation. I wrote down a journal for every time I had a trigger and start analysing it. I realised that it only happened at work, or around people that I didn’t feel comfortable which can be social anxiety. Soon enough I realised what and how to manage these triggers and smooth it over. There is also some really good stuff on youtube to listen to in your own time. It’s still here but it is getting better and better with time.
glad to hear you are feeling so much better, agree it's best to avoid medication if you can.
Hi
Thanks for your post. I have a clogged ear rt now I feel when I'm busy and not thinking of it it goes away. But when it comes back it's real clogged and it's causing me great deal of anxiety.
Did your feel clogged, sensitive to noise muffled etc? I went to ENT and of course he said that ear looks great.
I hope this isn't a life long feeling. Please help w a reply.
Thanks
Hi Niko,
i got the same in rt ear and when I hear loud noises it effects me. I'm looking at my anxiety and hopefully it will work, did the same as you ENT they couldn't find anything.
Hi Niko,
I have is too big time. Muffled, physically blocked, sensitive. It's part of the muscles tensing and protecting you (anxiety). I give my self a quick massage around the ears, stretch out your neck (SCM) and boom, problem solved. It'll come back, but just rinse and repeat.
Hope this works, I'm confident it'll help you out.
What is the treatment for labyrinthitis?
Ive been struggling for about two years now with a muffled, fullness and pain in my ears. Ive been to ent twice and they can’t find anything and neither can the doctors. I’m forever off balance, dizzy, Uneasy, as time as gone on I have now found out I am suffering from anxiety but also from labyrinthitis. What is the treatment for this?
So glad I’m not alone with this! I’m an oral cancer survivor with significant hearing loss in my left year from radiation and oesteoradionecrosis. Infrequently my right ear will plug for no apparent reason, inducing a anxiety/ panic attack. Something about hearing my breathing makes it really unpleasant. I thought it was just another of the myriad of issue post cancer. I’ll be talking to my ENT tomorrow
I have been suffering for a complete year and this is taking over my life . I have done too many ear tests and nothing comes off wrong . Please tell me how was it diagnosed as anxiety for you and what did u do?
I have that same issue. I know I have anxiety, but it comes when I feel my ear blocked. What treatment did you use?
In can infact be both ways. It can cause anxiety also. It can mess with your mind and make you unable to concentrate properly aswell as make you feel depressed. It messes with alot more than you would think. It's crazy. https://www.buzzle.com/articles/inner-ear-infection-symptoms.html
Hi, i know this is an old post but did you manage to get rid of the ear pressure?
I had a similar issue 2 years ago I asked my neighbour and she suggested to get a second medical opinion
Raj32711.. I did get some relief . Dec 2017 I had anther ear infection/was preceded by a sinus infection/ anxiety too. My doctor prescribed Doxycycline and a Medrol Pak. I had never taken Medrol before, it's a series of meds for 7 days. I wound up having to take 2 rounds of those meds. I been feeling great, better then I had felt for past 2.5 yr. no anxiety, no ear fullness or pain, no sinus congestion. Right now I feel as if my sinus start to act up. Tinnitus remains, sometime loud other times low which began 2.5 yr ago after I took zithromycin for the first sinus issue😳 I hope you can get some relief soon.
i know this is a very old post but did your anxiety get treated? i have the same symptoms as you
I have the same symptoms with my ears gushing, I do suffer with anxiety. I have other symptoms as well. Klonopin has been a lifesaver for me
