I have had traces of blood in my urine and a frequent need to void for months now. I have had a camera in my bladder and a scan but the cause of this wasn't found. My Gp says that these symptoms can "just happen" with age.
Today I went to a walk in centre as I have pain in my groin and back pain. The doctor believes that I have yet another inguinal hernia and told me to see my GP to be referred back to my surgeon. The earliest appointment I can get is 4th August!!!
My question is, could my bladder symptoms be linked to this new hernia which is very low down in my pelvic area? I am worried that a hernia that can cause such bleeding might be dangerous
Hi lesley73033,
I don't think so.
I had 3 inguinal hernias repaired using keyhole surgery back in march, one has com back and I need to go back in for an op, the surgeon said he would do an open surgery on it. I am still feckin swollen, bad scar tissue, loads of hematomas, oh and my right testicle is being pulled up the inguinal canal by the sacr tissue, which will get worse with the second op.
Hey but, I am smiling as I type, you could be worse.
xxx
You too? That sounds so painful!!
This will be my 6th inguinal hernia. In my experience, the mpre you have, the more painful the repair recovery is and the hernias themselves also seem to be more painful before repair. had 2 repaired in Feb but the new one is nowhere near where either of those 2 were. I have never had bladder symptoms but I've also never had one so low down. I wish I'd thought to ask this morning.
Has your doctor given you any idea of why you keep getting them? My surgeon says that it's because I smoke.
Hi Lesley73033,
I asked my consultant, how they happen he said they can be caused my a multitude of things.
You have had 6, my god, you have went through the mill, hopefully this is my last op for the hernia.
Are you private patient, I am, so I can choose when to get it done.
No, unfortunately I'm NHS and it usually takes about a year between me noticing one and having it repaired. Might be quicker this time though as I haven't actually been discharged from the last lot of surgery.
I honestly thought that my last repair would be my last as they reinforced all of the left side of my inguinal wall with 3 lots of mesh. The left hand side was always the side I got them on. This one is on my right!
Can I ask, is your left side now stiff and swollen with all the mesh?
It's not swollen. If anything, it seems to have flattened everything. It is stiff though and I have very limited feeling in it but I think this is coming back, Part of it is totally numb and part just feels strange when I touch it
Hi Lesley,
can I ask your age and sex?
If you do not want to answer, I will understand.
Cheers
