Hi I've had cataract surgery three days ago and my sight is still blurred , I suffered some bleeding during the operation and I appreciate the blood has to re absorb , has anyone else found their vision very blurred following surgery ?
Atenciosamente
Agnes
I had similar issue after second lense and Yag laser my eyesight is worse than before cataract surgery. They are still trying to sort it all out.
Ophthalmologists make every attempt to maintain the integrity of the capsular bag so that the intraocular lens can be positioned correctly within it. But the capsular bag is extremely thin — approximately the thickness of a single red blood cell — and can sometimes rupture or break.therefore causing bleeding, displacement and rotation of the lense.
measurements made before the iol is ordered and inserted might be off or they could have missed a slight astigmatism. Some times waiting time can heel. If not return to the surgeon.
Caroline, everyone is different but this site helped me so much when I found it because it helped me understand what I was going through many others were too. I thought I'm getting Cataract surgery, I paid extra thousands of dollars out of pocket to purchase the best lens available and according to what everyone told me "you wait you're going to see so great you won't believe it." NOT.
When I first had my surgery I couldn't see hardly anything clearly. I couldn't see road signs so I couldn't drive, I couldn't see the computer even when I made the font 200% and I couldn't read anything that was on a package, for example, cooking instructions on a package. I was so devestated. I've had a LOT of problems all of which I won't go into but I just wanted to tell you to hang in there. It did get better for me but I still can't see as well as I did with glasses and Cataracts.
When they did my one eye, the Cataract was so thick that when they removed it my Iris AND my Pupil came out and had to be stitched back in. There was blood laying in the back of that eye which caused me to have a big spot everywhere I looked and it was like a giant see through floater, so hard to explain but he told me it was the blood and it would eventually dissapate which it did.
I would have to say that this is probably the worst medical thing I've ever experienced and I have a lot of problems but when it's your eyes.....that's devastating, because our eyes are everything to us. So just hang in there and ask your surgeon lots of questions, don't be shy, my surgeon followed up with me about a dozen times. It's been going on three months since my surgery and I still feel disappointed but at the same time I am thankful that a lot of my problems improved and I'm thankful that I can see....period!
Good luck and let us know how things are going. I'll say some prayers for you.
Thank you I live in the UK and could of had the op on the nags but didn't want to wait for the lovely new vision I was promised , like you I have spent thousands on this and I'm very disappointed at the moment , thank you for taking the trouble to reply to me it helps .
I had my cataract surgery at the end of September on my left eye. My vision seems as bad as it was before the surgery. I didn't go back to the doctor who did the surgery because he treated me like I was just being silly. When I told him I was having trouble driving, he told me to put a patch over that eye and drive. My new doctor has tried by giving me more steroids. It's not helping. He sent me to a retina specialist who just said he would wait 2 or 3 months before doing anything. I am afraid to have my right eye done. What will I do if that eye reacts the same way? I need to work for a living. This time of year, it gets dark so early, I have to rush home before it gets too dark to see. Of course, the sun is also a problem during the day, but it's better than the dark. I am scared and worried. I love to read. I have been reading the same book for days now. It feels like I am seeing through a cloud. Some words are too blurred to see.
I trust my doctor, but I am having trouble feeling positive about the what the future holds. I wish I had a magic answer for you.
Atenciosamente, Agnes
Thank you for the kind words. I hope your distortion and heaviness gets better. The vision in my other eye is still pretty good for now, so I can wait for the surgery in that eye.
