Has anyone experienced or heard of your body rejecting a knee replacement? They are testing me for this and I'll have the results tomorrow.
I haven't heard anyone talk about this lorrigrl. I was told to be extra careful of infection after the op because if it gets into the blood stream it could cause serious problems with the artificial knee.
How long ago did you have your tkr?
What symptoms do you have?

Hi lorri, I'm am with Pru and Jenny, just told to be careful about any infection or even a cold. I hope and pray that it will turn out ok for you tomorrow, will keep my fingers crossed for you
I haven't heard of this either, although I wasn't even warned about infection, my friend had a allergy to nickel, it was on her notes and only noticed just before she had a epidural for her op, they made her a ceramic knee so her op was delayed a bit as her knee was going to be made of nickel, makes you wonder, hope all goes well with your results. Lorri....I had just assumed you were doing well and you problems were be resolved. So sorry to hear you are still faced with issues of this magnitude. While I have heard of hips being a problem with this issue, I haven't heard of knees. Seems as though the use a different blend of metals in the hip prosthesis. Good luck. Hope they have an answer s[n. As I was writting this I remember a few months back someone said their medical group said there wasn't a test to show this situation so I guess it's all about where you go and each individual circumstance. Keep us advised

Turns out it isn't my knee at all, my right kidney is failing and that caused all the pain and swelling in my knee..

Going to have an CT scan on the 11th, then a cystocopy after those results are in...my brother said he would donate one of his kidney to me if needed...
Never ends, but I always fry to smile through the pain..

FIRST DR PUT OFF AFEW DEGREES AND IT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS LEFT KNEE AND IT LOOKED WERID,AFTER 4 ONTHS OF DISPAERE.HENSAENT ME TO TOP REVISION. HE FIXED AFTER 3 MONTHS
LEG HURT COULD NOT BENDAN IN THE END MY BODY WAS REJECTING DEVICE.
HE NPUT ANOTHER 3 MONTHS AGO, STRONGER RODS INSERTED INTO UPPER AND LOWER LEG.
NOW WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WELL IT MADE ME BLEED, THAT WHEN IGOT HOME VISITING RN TOOK OFF BANDAGE AND CALLED SURGEON AND SENT PIC
ALL I CAN SAY IS ORTHO SURGEON SAW FIX AND DONT WANT TO HEAR MORE EXCEPT FOR MY CASE THAT IS ONE FOER THE BOOK

Don't know about rejection, but I am 12 weeks post op and still not driving and struggling with stairs, there is a hard ridge on left of the knee which is higher than the other side, stiffness is horrendous in the morning, have to force my knee to bend to get out of bed, not too bad once I get moving, seeing my surgeon again end of month, although last time he didn't even bother to look at my knee, still doing the exercises.
