Hi all! For most of the time over the last 2 weeks ive had a feeling of being strangled, have felt like I've had difficulty swallowing and a lump in my throat, pressure in my chest. I can't convince myself that it's just anxiety, globus hystericus, and it will not go away. My throat feels like it's constantly full of phlegm too. Can anyone offer any advice or explanation please.
What you're experiencing are anxiety symptoms. Starting an ssri like Zoloft can give you extremely heightened anxiety/ depression symptoms. I know it's horrible, because I went through the same thing. I'm currently on week 6 of 50mg, and for the first 3 weeks I went through hell with side effects, but it's worth sticking out. It does get easier, and you will start to feel better. Trust me I know how you feel, I thought I was dying and the pill wasnt right for me but now I'm having some good days and some bad days which is a huge improvement for me. I've gathered that Zoloft is slow to work, but well worth the wait for most people. Keep faith that it'll get better, stay occupied with your mind as best as you can with anything but the anxious thoughts in your head ( easier said than done, I know) Hang in there, there are better days ahead!! 😊
