Bulkomid injection for stress incontinece

Hi everyone 20 months ago I had prolapse surgery to correct a rectocele and sacro spinous fixation, the bladder prolapse was left and he decided to correct the stress incontinence first.

So today I had the bulkomid procedure...before the surgery he came to see me and said that the urodynamics test has shown that I have something called bladder muscle failure (there was a complicated word for it but I can't remember it) and that he hoped that the bulkomid procedure wouldn't make things any worse!! I had the procedure and went into bladder retention so now have a catheter for a week to give my bladder time to rest. Only time will tell if the procedure has been successful.

Guess I'm just a bit fed up that he's known about the other issue since October but told me just before I was going into surgery.. He's said there's nothing he can do for that issue.

Thanks for listening.

Sorry you are going through this. I wonder if the consultant injected a little too much Bulkamid causing the retention. Sometimes this can happen but as some of it will be absorbed by your surrounding tissues hopefully after a week you shouldn't have any problems.

Hi matron managed to get rid of the catheter today and successfully if a little slowly managed to go to the loo. So at least that's one issue resolved.

Well done, another hurdle crossed. It must feel good to get rid of it. Keep drinking plenty shich I'm sure they told you. Fingers crossed that this has solved your problem. Keep in touch x
