Hi I’ve had an abnormal calprotectin test and the Drs want to repeat the test to check to see whether there are inflammation of the bowels.
Since taking those tests I’ve been prescribed naproxen and codein for a inflammes foot (tendonisitis)
I’ve read online that naproxen can affect the results of a test. Can anybody confirm this?
Thanks
My advice, seriously stay away from Naproxen, especially if you have signs of inflammation. I was prescribed it while I had Gastritis, possibly stomach ulcers. It made me worse and I'm suffering with digestive problems 3 years down the line!
Just to add, Naproxen is an NSAID drug and they can affect calprotectin results. Personally, I'd steer clear of codeine as well. Stick with paracetomol if you can, much safer for gut inflammation.
There is research to suggest that patients on these types of anti inflammatory painkillers may show a higher than normal fecal calprotectin result. Before having your repeat test, stay off naxopren for three weeks. This is what doctors suggest.
