Can anxiety cause a seizure?

Just curious if anxiety or more specifically panic attacks can cause seizures? My doctor has diagnosed me with panic disorder. Sometimes when I’m having anxiety I’ll get a tightness around my head that is pretty intense. It will even make my nerves twitch. I try to remain still and ride it out but it seems like it keeps increasing in intensity and I’m afraid that my head is going to pop or I’m going to have a seizure. I eventually have to get up and move around to “control” it. Anyone know what I’m talking about?

Lately this is exactly what I am getting. Intense tightness around my head, especially the temples and the sides. Even into the neck. It gets so strong that sometimes I feel like my ears are clogged and I cant hear. Or I get tinnitus. No idea what to make of it.

Absolutely not. Seizures are caused by brain electrical activity. Panic and anxiety are caused by amygdela in your brain.  I know these feelings can make you feel like something scary is happening but I can assure you they do not cause seizures. The only way you can have a seizure during a panic attack is if you already suffer from seizures, they can trigger a seizure.

I had this fear as well.

Seizures are caused by neurological disorders in the brain. Not anxiety. It's impossible. No connection. Calm down. Take a breather. Distract yourself.

I just got back from my doctor and he said it’s just anxiety. I’ve actually had tinnitus for about a month now as well. I’m not sure if it has been there or I just started noticing it. But anyway, the sensations we are experiencing seem to be normal. Hopefully you can find some relief in that and from what the other responders are saying.

Interesting information. Thank you for your help.

Thanks for taking some time to help me out.

No problem ❤
