I abruptly stopped inderal la 80mgs 5 weeks ago. I am still experiencing withdrawal symptoms.

Since stopping these I have been getting numb arms and legs when I sit or lay down.

My heart pounds on little exertion. I have also been experiencing shakes when I've extorted myself just a bit. I cleaned my conservatory windows the other day and ended up shaking. It took over 3 hours for this to subside.

Also, even before I'm properly awake I can feel this whooshing sensation running down my arms and legs and then numbness starts until I'm up and moving around.

I dint seem to be able to deal with even a small amount if stress now, my heart starts pounding so hard. It's not even really stress, I suppose it's concentrating hard on something really.

Plus been getting bad chills even in the heat we've had recently.

I've also noticed hot flushes, which is silly cos I'm 12 years post menopause.

I was put on half inderal la 8 years ago for aura migraine.

I am also hypothyroid but had my natural dessicated thyroid treatment changed 5 days ago and been put back on levothyroxine. However, the symptoms above are all what started on cessation of stopping the beta blocker.

Can anyone PLEASE indicate how long this is likely to last.

I haven't been able to work since this started as the work I love seems to make the shakes worse.

Rosemary. I really think you should see your doctor. We're all different and have different symptoms. Please go as soon as possible just to reassure yourself and peace of mind OK..

Of course I've already been to Dr's to see what's going on

He said withdrawal

So what I was asking here, is, has anyone idea of how long this might go on for??

Dr said these receptors that have been blocked from receiving adrenaline are now super sensitive and need to adjust back to pre beta blocker state.

Soooo......

. Again any idea how long they're like to last?????

Hi Rosemary, everyone is different but the body is very smart. It could take any sort of time from days to weeks even months. Adrenaline is such a powerful drug and the fact that you haven't been receiving it is going to affect you. Best thing to do is when you feel shaky, sit down focus on your breathing and when you feel in control start again. Have you been taken off your medication completely? Not even put on a lower dose?

I was tried on 3 others over a week but was very ill on them. Was taken to hospital on two occasions.

So basically I stopped my regular beta blocker inderal la, cold turkey.

I don't know if I've confused you but beta blocker isn't an adrenaline drug, apparently it blocks adrenaline. I was put on it for migraines
