Can bright lights cause flashes in vision? I'm getting a lot of anxiety from this

i recently made a post about stress and eye problems. I'm wondering if stress and bright lights can cause these weird flashes in vision? I was on my phone, before bed, with 75% or 100% brightness on, which is pretty bright esepcially in a dark bedroom. I'm really trying to stop my habit of using my phone before bed....overall, reduce my screen time. Well, after being on my phone, I turned it off and start to go to sleep. I stared at the walls and slowly drift off but I noticed that's ive been seeing flashes? They weren't anything extreme, just little flashes of light. They weren't that noticeable, I just happened to be focusing a lot on it. I of course went on my phone to search on google. But then I turned my brightness down and a few moments later, they start to slowly stop? Today, I've been at school and not looking at bright screens. I try really hard to focus to see if there is still any flashes. So far, I haven't been able to see flashes (thank goodness) except a really small flash after once again, playing on my iPad for a little while (brightness was also high, I just turned it down). Help, I'm really worrying about this only because it could mean a retinal detachment. I don't really feel any pain. My vision have been getting blurrier which is probably due to a lot more screen time and stress. Everything nowadays is on electronics and I have lots of homework on there. I also been playing games a lot more because of stress. I did have a few pain in the head a few times here and there.

Hi Katy Kat ABSOLUTELY IT CAN!!!! Happens to me all the time AND lightheadness also from it. I'd just avoid it in a darkened room especially.

Thank goodness! I always see these weird spots whenever I'm looking at the sun or sometimes really bright. I think I've seen these flashings before, but I never thought much about it until of course, now, because of the stupid anxiety disorder, I got diagnosed with (lots of stress as mentioned too). I literally get so worried about every small thing even! I have also been getting more lightheadedness feeling too!

Yes I know what you mean. But honestly it's perfectly normal. I freaked and my eye Dr started laughing until he remembered that I have panic disorder 🙄

I started to freak out and google and it keep popping up retinal detachment or something and I'm like freaking out. However, today, I limited my screen time and brightness and I'm trying my hardest to focus and see if there is any flashes. Maybe I am actually totally normal (which is what EVERY SINGLE PERSON tells me -_-). I also got IBS and apparently, they can do some stuff to your eyes...

Oh I have IBS bad!!! Now on the Googling, I did that for months and learned Google is my worst enemy!!! Honestly hon you're fine I know.

And now that I'm so worried about my eyes and vision, I'm literally starting to see "more problems" with it. Is this what anxiety can do? I always see more symptoms of a specific illness I'm getting anxiety about at that time and once I stop, it seems like it's going away?I don't know, I don't have to go to the doctors. I don't want to talk to my friends anymore. The answer is always "You're fine". Like I know that, I just need some help. Like someone who I can talk about my worries to

There's a little program for that to reduce the blue light to reduce the strain on your eyes. It's called f . lux without the spaces. Or get those special screen glasses.

Do you know what are the symptoms of eyes straining? Like I said there pain, pressure, anything? I heard it before. Last time I went for an eye exam, which was almost a year ago, the doctor who looks at your eyes told me to reduce eye straining but now I forgot what's that means.

Katy hon some people are just that way, to busy or non compassionate about ANY mental illness. It hurts. I'm getting better at not letting them get to me. It's hard and that's when we have to get hard too!! You're going to be fine I know but if you need to talk, you can find me on Facebook. I can't put my email on here so please look me up there ok. Hugs

Oh my name is Dana Price

as long as you've been tested by a eye doctor and he says you're fine then you shoud be fine, as I have had all crazy eye stuff for over 20 years...sometimes severe all sorts of flashing. dots of color, all sorts of stuff and it never goes away but it changed a little...seems worse than ever now all they said was it's visual migraines. migraines without the pain. Do migraines run in your fam?

Last eye exam was a year ago. My eye problems are nothing close to severe so I guess that good.  My vision is actually 100% fine unless I stare at a bright screen or is in a really dark room. The flashings stopped until I went on my phone at night again. None of these floaters or flashes are noticeable unless I think a lot about it or focus my eyes to much (they get dry from this).

About migraines, I’m not sure. However, my mom gets headaches A LOT. I don’t know if what she has is migraines but she gets them sometimes multiple times a week.

could be related and the lights are bothering you. You should try having a light on when you're looking at your phone at night

I have a dim light, that might help. However, when I’m in my study room and on my computer (with lights on), the screen seems to be even brighter! Maybe it’s because I have those white colored instead of orange lights. It’s attached to my ceiling fan and I feel like the lights might be glaring down and reflecting off my computer? Should I turn off my light or should I leave it on in this case?

do you have any sunglasses at all? maybe itll help? they have some yellow sunglasses that are supposed to help with blue light maybe you should try them?

I'm having the same problem as her! I never knew those yellow glasses even existed!

If you use a Laptop or Pc installing a program called f . lux (without the spaces) and you won't need the glasses. I've been using it for years now and my eyes never get tired anymore.

Have u had your eyes examined by an optometrist ? Has anyone discussed the possibility of migraine?
