Kann Citalopram aufhören zu wirken?

I’ve been taking citalopram now for 2 and half years started off on 20mg upped to 30mg then last year upped again to 40mg.  Im struggling again though have been for few months now feeling really down, anxiety has increased, constantly exhausted but I’m not sleeping properly, appetite has decreased, don’t want to leave my house. Today I tried attempting to go on a course and had a complete meltdown in the car park, anxiety attack, and couldn’t get out of my car to go in.

Is it worth me seeing if it’s just a bad patch and persevering or going back to the GP and telling them I don’t think they are working? It took a lot for me to start the cit and the thought of changing to something new scares me but I don’t think I can go on like this much longer.

Ask your doc for some propronal which is a beta blocker it helped me a lot with the panic attacks etc x Have u tried calming apps and end anxiety tapes they r also very good x definately speak to your doctor dont suffer in silence

How long have you been on the 40 mg? If it's been longer than a few months, I would change to a different antidepressant.

It is somewhat common for antidepressants to eventually "poop out", as they call it. It sounds like that's what has happened to you. Upping the doses will stave it off for a bit, but then your body reaches the point where the AD is no longer effective for you due to tolerance. I should add that this doesn't happen to everyone, but to many of us, it does.

I'm terrified of switching ADs, too (like you, I think mine is no longer working for me), but once we hit the point when the anxiety is bad enough to interfere with our lives, I think it's time to make the switch.
