hi guys, its been a few weeks and i noticed a pulse in my stomach near my belly few months ago and i ignored it as it does not cause any pain. But recently i ended up googling it and it says an aortic aneurysm and i started to panic. in 17 slim, healthy that lost about 23 kg a year ago. i never noticed this when i was overweight but now recently few months ago i can feel a pulse. i called the GP just incase and she said its completely normal to feel it since the main artery goes down there. ive spoken to a lot of people and they said they can feel theirs as well. Also feel that it came around when my anxiety started but im not sure. is this normal guys?
i noticed this my self a couple weeks and went to doctors. apparently it is normal
I’m pretty sure this used to happen to me and it used to unsettle me a bit too . . . but my heart etc. is fine! I think it is probably because you have lost weight, it is easier for you to feel the pulse now because it’s closer to the skin. Before I read what you said the doctor told you, I was going to say the same things he/she did. . . It’s just that you have plenty of blood vessels there. The intestines are surrounded with lots of blood vessels, to pick up all the nutrients from the food we digest.
Plenty of blood vessels, you can see all the arteries here:
As the heart is not too far away from the intestines, the blood from the arteries will be under high pressure as it is not too long since it was pushed out of the art. It is also being pushed down, with the force of gravity instead of trying to push up against it. . . So the pulse would be quite strong in those arteries I imagine. . . I’m not an expert. But I have a degree in Biomedical Science and a postgraduate in teaching Science and Biology at high school/secondary school level, so that’s what I would make of it.
I don’t think you have anything to worry about.
