Hello, I'm 25 years old woman and a small, red-ish, single bump appeared close to my labia/genital area. It is not the first time it appeared tho, and it looks like to be in the same (or close) spot. It doesn't look like a pimple or a ingrown hair problem (I don't shave there). I'm freaking out bc the symptoms pointed it to be herpes... but I'm a virgin! I mean, I'm a complete virgin. I had never had any sort of oral sex either and it's been years since I kissed someone. Can It be possible I have herpes? I know there's a possibility to get it from birth, but it seems unlikely imo. I'm freaking out bc I can't go to the doctor rn. I need some help!!
Why can't u go to the dr? Have u done any dry humping? I doubt its Herpes since your a virgin! If u got it from birth it should have presented itself long before now. Can u go the health department get a blood test done that will be your best bet.
Thanks for your answer. Doctors are very expensive where I live and I don't have insurance rn :'( And about dry humping the answer is also no. I'll try to see if I can get a blood test (which is not as expensive as a doctor) without a doctor prescription, so I can have some piece of mind.
But still, I'm terrified it may be herpes bc of the similarities of the symptoms. I'm literally freaking out.
I have herpes and it does not sound like herpes to me. Blood test results come back pretty fast too. Just get it done for your peace of mind but based on what your telling me your about a waste your money. No price on peace of mind tho. Best of Luck I'm sure your fine. When you do decide to have sex be careful and selective.
The odds that you (or anyone else) got genital herpes from birth or via non-sexual means are so low, I would never have thought it could be herpes if I were you.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I have anxiety so I tend to worry a lot. But I hope you're right and this turns out to be nothing serious!
And again, thank you very much.
Thanks for your answer. It wasn't my initial suspect. But since this bump is a recurring problem that keeps appearing a disappearing, I made the mistake to search online and everything pointed to it being herpes (even to the bump I have doesn't look like the pics I saw) , and I also read cases of ppl who got herpes while they where still virgins and so on.. and I got scared! I hope it's not it, but Idk!!
I wouldn't trust the stories about virgins catching herpes at all. Basically, if you've had no sexual or intimate contact involving your genitals and another person or shared sex toy, the odds of you having genital herpes are next to zero.
Thank you so much! I'm more relieved right now thanks to you guys. I still gonna take a blood test for piece of mind, but I'm definitely more calm right now. I was just really scared to have got it w/o even have had sex. It would be awful.
Hi, if you have not allowed anyone else to touch that area (with face, fingers or genitals), then it is NOT a herpes simplex sore. And no, if you had it from birth it would have been troubling you in your childhood. So it is something else, there are over 25 "other things" a well-informed doctor will be considering as the cause of this - if you choose to go to a doctor. It will not be a sexually transmitted infection (since you have not had sex) so why not ask a doctor for treatment?
Hello! Thanks for your answer! I wasn't suspecting it initially, but after making the mistake to search online I saw ppl saying it's possible to get it from simple kissing, and even cases of virgin ppl like me who also got diagnosed. The problem is, there's a lot of misinformation around saying you can easily get it and some saying you can only get this type of herpes having sex, and I end up confused and scared! What scared me the most is because is a recurring problem that keeps appearing and disappearing.
Doctors are very expensive here where I live, but I'll get a blood test first and then I'll try to save money to go to one, so I can know what is it.
What will you ask the blood test to look for. You have to do a specific test for a specific condition. Since no one has touched that area, the one test you DO NOT NEED is a test for herpes simplex. Anyway that test is not at all reliable (a lot of wrong results). Save your money - don't do a blood test for herpes simplex antibodies.
She wants peace of mind she is going crazy over these bumps can't afford a dr visit. She can afford the blood test or culture of the bump since that can be done by the nurse. That is why I suggested. I 1st suggested free clinic or health department because a dr would instantly tell her yes this is or isn't herpes. I had a culture done on a bump I thought was herpes it was negative. I dismissed symptoms because of that later got a blood test turns out I had herpes. That again is why I said blood test although I don't think at all this is the case for her. Better safe than sorry tho.
Thanks for your input! I think I'll save the money for the blood test and try to go to a doctor instead! It will take more time to get all the money, but at least the doctor will know what this is.
thank you very much for your help! I feeling way more relieved about all this since I posted in this forum.
I'm starting to feel a slightly burning sensation down three, but tbh I'm not sure if it is really happening or is just me getting paranoiac bc I wasn't feeling it bf I started research about herpes symptoms. I'll go to a doctor on Monday but I'm scared that he/she is going to say what I don't want to listen. Do you guy are sure there's no way a virgin person can get herpes? I'm truly terrified.
It's not herpes. Even people who have sex with someone who has herpes don't always get it. Many factors have to line up in order for infection to occur. You haven't even had sex or genital contact, and that's one of the biggest factors typically required!
Thank you! Since I started suspecting it, I've been very unstable, worrying all the time, I'm not even be able to work properly. I know the chances are low, but I just can't think of another reason why this bump keeps appearing. I've been so extremely distressed over this. God, if it turns out to be all fine, I'll never look for symptoms on the internet ever again. Still I just can't stop worrying and crying!
Just a update, I went to the doctor and the looked the bump and said it`s folliculitis, but I'm still scared about it being something more serious like herpes or genital wart since it's been a month and no change to the bump. It's still there.
The fact that it's still there after a month is even more reason to rule out herpes. Herpes lesions don't stick around that long unchanged. It's not herpes.
Thanks for you answer ( and patience w me). I know I`m overreacting and I`m even spent money to go to the doctor to get some peace of mind, but somehow I managed to get scared about it again here and there, I guess it will like this till this bump disappear for complete.
But your words were reassuring so thank you. ( and I`m hope I don`t freak out and come back here to rant again lol ) )
