I had yeast infections and got them treated but I develop recurrences very frequently, especially when I'm stressed out, tired or fatigue. Recently I experienced an itchy, burning vagina again and I think the infection is coming back. My boyfriend wants to have sex with me but I feel really confused. Can I give my boyfriend a yeast infection if we have unprotected sex?
Yes you can give I to him. In fact sometimes a woman can give the man a yeast infection but he has no symptoms but can be a carrier and give it back to the woman. This may well have already happened. You could have had sex with your boyfriend when you were not completely yeast free (it can hang around in the nooks and crannies of the vagina), then he could be a carrier and re-infect you later. I ideally, your partner should also be treated when you are treated.
Definite yes. You can give your boyfriend yeast infections if you're still carrying yeast. So abstain from sex until your infection is completely treated. And ask your partner to be treated as well. He may get the yeast from you and spread to you again. I knew antifungal Fugacil can work very well for yeast infections. It helps with my pain, itching and burning. I used it and have never had yeasts again. It has been a year now.
I've had yeast infections for almost 2 years and developed recurrence 6 to 7 times a year. I used to apply Fugacil for several times, admittedly it reduced my symptoms, gave immediate relief from pain and itching but it never prevented recurrence of yeast.
It did for me. I think your lifestyle habits might contribute to your recurrent yeast infections. To keep the yeast from coming back, you need to eat healthy and live healthy. I usually take the few tips below.
- practice good vaginal hygiene
- avoid using antibiotics or contraceptive pills
- say no to bread, pastries, pasta, chips, cereal, fried food, cheese, milk, corn, potatoes, sugary desserts, fruit, soda, alcohol, or coffee
- add papaya and yogurt in your daily meals
- take vitamin C supplement
