I have been having vaginal problems for a couple of months now. What started out as a yeast infection has turned into an endless cycle of anxiety and confusion.
I am suffering with notable vaginal redness. My discharge is normal and I have no itchiness or sores. I have done two std tests now and everything came back negative. My doctor did however give me BV antibiotics along with dermatitis cream but neither made much of a difference.
Im currently taking probiotics and I do believe they have helped. I stopped using shower gel, I wear cotton underwear or none at all, Ive even cut my sugar intake.
The redness I experience gets much worse after sex or during oral ( fingering . ) and eventually calms down. However, it does burn.
Can someone please shed some light and give me their thoughts on this? Do you think its an infection, or an std that wasnt detected during my last two stds tests.

Your vagina looks normal and your results came back clear twice - they wouldn't lie. The itching can happen before periods and after this is due to hormones. Hope that makes you ease your worries.
going through something similar -- have you been tested for autoimmune? sounds crazy but -- thats what mine appears to be....

I was starting to think it was hormonal, hence the probiotics. I dont think its an infection either as Ive had it for months now, tried various treatment and I still have redness.

Maybe my anxiety is placing a part in all this and deep down everything is fine. Redness doesnt mean infection. And if it was an infection, surely Id be seeing more symptoms.

well im not entirely sure exactly --- i thought i had a yeast infection (my sexual timeline def didnt add up to an STD even though that was my gut reaction and major stress in life) but after meds for both yeast and bv didnt help and 4? rounds of swabs urine and blood work came back negative for literally everything i was finally referred to an internal medical specialist. My itch is unbearable when it hits (once every 4 days and lasts for 5 mins of hell) and the skin down there looks red and hurts/rubs on clothing. Similar to the redness in your pic
i havent had my follow up appt yet (set for mid march) but doing the ANA TEST i pinged positive ...... as awful as it sounds i was so happy to finally hit a positive test result!!!! Now i just wait to see what this means and what my next steps are
mine too seems to be hormone related . Mid cycle and 2-3 days after sex it takes me down hard

Wow thats crazy! Its similar to my situation except I dont have itchiness thankfully. If I can, with COVID and everything, I will follow it up with my doctor.
I also cant help but think its my anxiety playing tricks on me- making me think something is wrong, like an infection. Redness and slight burning after sex or oral, wouldnt mean infection would it?
