I've posted before about my generalised anxiety disorder, anyway sleep is a huge factor for me, I can fall asleep but toss and turn most of the night before giving up and getting out of bed at 6am! This is taking its toll and today I'm at breaking point!! I don't get anxious when I toss and turn just frustrated and 4am seems to be the first I awake every night! I broke down to my husband today because I can't take anymore this has been going on for weeks now! Is this my anxiety or could I also be depressed? I'm not too bad when I get up but come noon I'm so lethargic and tired like I have lead attached to my legs! I'm really struggling
Hi Stella, difficulty with sleep is common for both anxiety and depression and can be distressing when it goes on for so long. Sleep depravation can be debilitating. I would suggest you visit your GP and explain the problem and take it from there. Neil
Very often anxiety and depression go hand-in-hand. Sometimes people don't realize they are depressed. Speak with your General doctor first and then he or she can refer you to a counselor Who specializes in anxiety.
when I can't sleep, I listen to meditations on YouTube for anxiety or sleep. They completely calm me down very often I fall sleep before they are over. There are many to choose from. They're also YouTube nature sounds like ocean waves, rain, etc
I use earbuds for the best effect. I hope this helps!
Stella
I have the same problem. In my case it is due to a weak bladder and I wake up at 01;50 every evening and again at 04;15, for same. In my case it seems like a habit that has formed over a longer period of time. It also happens when I have a meal, eating seems to bring it on so I have to break of from food and make a visit. I have accepted my lot with this although I will see the GP about it soon on my return.
Your lethergy sounds like Depression and may be linked to your Anxiety. What you could try is go to bed at the same time every night and train your body to sleep and wake up at the same time each morning. It is strange as we get older we seem to need less sleep in the morning and wake up quite early. We seem to have to push ourselves to have a lie in.
Talk to your GP, if you are not getting enough sleep or Your times of going to bed are variable that can cause an interrupted sleep patern.
With my conditions I get up at normal times, and I have problems becoming active until around 10;30am, that seems to allow my medications and Opiates to kick in. What types of medications are you taking at this time. As we get older our sleep paterns do change, so that can be something to think about
