Cannula

I had a little bit of a problem with my hand where the cannula was, the vein had gone hard from the point where it went in to the wrist, this was at 2 weeks.  I asked the nurse when she came to take out my staples and she said it was bruising that had caused it. Fine it eventually went.

Now I'm 6 weeks on Wednesday coming and the last three days it throbs but not very often, and maybe only lasts a few minutes.,

Anyone else get it?

I had problems with it in hospital.  I used my hands so much to push my body around in the bed it was really painful.  When they had finished with the intravenous drugs they kept promising to take it out but didnlt do it.  In the end it was so sore I took it out myself (got told off) and it was bruised and sore for a few days.  No problems now though.  I do think that little vein in your hand takes a bit of a battering though.

Hi Lynn,

How annoying ...

Is it still hard ?  Maybe you'd better have your doctor look at it ...

Amazing how such a little thing can hurt ... I was punctured by a newbie right before going into thr OR ... can still feel it

I had some throbbing from mine a few weeks after my second operation, like everything else, it settled down and has not come back again..... yet

Gosh, yes it did make manovering in the bed difficult, because it stuck in.

That's the rebel again Cels lol

No, it went thankfully, I didn't mind getting the cannula in but the meds they put in were more uncomfortable.

Ouch, but I guess they need to practice, you were the guinea pig lol

I wasn't worried too much because it isn't much, but curiosity got the better of me.  Thank you Graham.
