Caused by certain partner? His bacteria hates me?

Hi. I'm a 32 year old woman in a serious, monogamous relationship. I've never had a yeast infection or experienced symptoms of BV until I started this new relationship. (Previously in a long-term relationships, had sex, never had an infection.) A few days after the first time I had sex with my new partner, I noticed a terrible smell of death, and was just horrified. Tried natural remedies and finally gave up, swallowed my embarrassment, went to the dr, and got on antibiotics. Cleared it up. We used condoms for awhile because I was certain he had caused it, even though some docs say men don't cause it, but I know my body. And I'd never had it before, so what else could it be?!? We stopped using condoms (I was on bc) and then I got it again. SERIOUSLY. Are our bodies just not compatible because his bacteria screws up mine? Should he get treated? I hate this. HATE IT. What are your experiences? Caused by sex? Caused by randomness? I'm pulling my hair out. I don't NOT want to have sex with this person. Holy hell, will we have to use condoms forever? I can't see getting married and having to rely on condoms to not get an infection. Thoughts, please.

hey I see this was posted a while ago so i was wondering if you were still having issues with bv. I too had bv for 3 months until i had found a cure. I am just now getting over it and am happy to share my findings with you! I am 100 percent positive it will help you too!

I found something that helped with the symptoms, quite a bit. VH Essentials Homeopathic BV capsules. Walgreens/ CVS/ etc....around ten bucks for a bottle that has a 2 mo supply. This seems to have helped me, quite a bit.

I know your post is a bit old, but I wanted to reply in hopes of helping you. How is you and your partner's diet? Do you both eat healthy? The vagina is acidic, while semen is alkaline. Maybe your partner's semen is disrupting the pH balance in your vagina, resulting in BV. You can read about acidic/alkaline foods online. Another thing that will help you is taking a probiotic and vitamins. I take Ultimate Flora and it is a great, great probiotic. It will up the good bacteria down there and will prevent BV. I'm not sure if you're in the UK, but here in the USA this product is easy to obtain. You may have to purchase from an online vendor if you're in the UK. I have had BV twice, but spaced apart by several years. The first time was from a partner (like your situation) and the second time developed on its own - I think from me using wipes to clean down there. Bad idea! Don't use anything scented or any kind of wash down there. It will disrupt the vagina's delicate environment. I think with diet changes and/or a probiotic, you'll be good to go! Hope this helps

Wouldn't hurt for him to get fully checked out...otherwise the other dietary suggestions here seem swell. Good alternative to vicious antibiotics.

You could be reinfecting each other but I was told even nuns get it .Mine seem to go alternatively with chronic utis  & metronizadole cleared it . But waiting over 3 hrs every 3 weeks for medication wasn.too funny.Did I hear there could be some connection with chlamydia??!!

he im going through the same senario i really need some advice its driving me crazy.

hi im going through something similar although my boyfriend does not ejaculate inside me. I do take probiotics and dont douche or use soap down there. I  dont see him often as well so we might have sex like 3 or twice a month. Ive had BV before but i didnt have any symptoms now i have an awful smell and i wasnt sure if he trigered it. Im so sad plus we are having problems and this is just a cherry on top

Help please.. What were your findings.. What did you do? How did you cure it?

I think I've used this. Is it a suppository ? Works.

I hear ya. What'd you use !!

Im actually just getting back from the GYN. And I'm highly upset. I thought BV had went away because i used Boric acid and saw how it worked for everyone else. Well she just told me i still have BV I'm so upset

How are you getting on with BV? Any more episodes and what cure did you do

hi how you getting on? So the key is to use pribiotics ? Have you been ok the last year

Hi. I'm 33. I have a daughter that'll turn 9 on the 26th. I've been with this man before. Actually a few times. We've been off and on for ten years. But ... All my BV problems have become after sleeping with him. Only in the last 4 years though. All the sudden my PH won't match his. Dr said to try using a condom. Tenyears.. we have a child.. now all the sudden my body won't accept him? Just seems funny. I'm not sure what to do either. Asking the love of my life to use a condom for his eternity seems a little much to ask of a man. I'm nervous.

Hi Lauren

My story is similar to yours.  I was with someone for years and was fine - as soon as I changed partner I started getting it and now it won't go away.

I think the make up of the new guy's sperm is probably different to your ex and it is causing your body to have problems.  However, I really think the underlying cause is a deficiency for the woman in certain vitamins and minerals - perhaps your ex's sperm was manageable for your body, but due to the make up of the new guy's sperm, it has pushed it into the category of not being able to overcome it.  The effect of a mineral deficiency is sometimes not seen until years down the line when the body is completely depleated!

I got BV the other week and the antibiotics have now actually stopped working on me.  Vitimin C insert has helped keep the smell away but I am convinced it is not completely gone as it doesn't 'feel' normal down there.

Just as some added info (I have been researching since the antibiotics didn't work), a woman's body is supposed to adjust it's PH to allow for sperm to pass through.  A normal PH level in a woman's body would kill all the sperm and prevent pregnancy - so you see, a woman's body needs to adjust itself to allow something alkaline to pass through - but the point is, it is supposed to go back to normal afterwards and it seems to me, a woman who is deficient in what she needs for that process to work properly won't be able to get there in certain situations (such as a partner who has a bad diet etc).

From the research ive done it has to do with the mans diet, if he eats trash, drinks beer all the time it makes his sperm more alkaline also tale vitamins and probiotics just to see if that helps

You may be allergic to his semen, the terminology is called "Human Seminal Plasma Hypersensitivity" HSPH. Unfortunately many physicians are clueless about this serious condition that can cause PID, Pelvic Inflammatory Disease in women.

I'll wait to see if you're still interested in find out about what's going on to explain why this could be the case.

Hi. I am interested in learning more about this.

Hello Lauren, I am just in the exact same place as you (or was) I am just wandering if you ever found a solution that worked for you? What happened now? Because I just realised that my boyfriend may be giving me BV, becayse i always get it when i have sex with him, we have been together 5 months and i have had it continously for 5 months - nothing works and doctors can only give meds that dont work. Our sex life is getting worse now, and i do not want this to be the end of our relasionship if we cannot find a solution to make it better..  Thanks Hun
