im on day 4 of celexa started of a little better this morning and got myself out to post some items that ive delayed since starting celexa , now its all gone downhill this evening as the nights getting closer , i am beginning to get terrified of going to sleep as this is when my panic attacks are at the worst , i have some beta blockers that apparently help but im unsure if they do, this is definatly the worst time of my life , it certainly gets worse before it gets better but for how long , i really really hope its not that ling for me
Hi James, I was on This medication 2 years ago for stress from a work colleague. it took weeks to feel better but please bare with it as it does work and can get worse before it gets better, i walked around where i live a bit more everyday in baby steps just try to keep busy and talk about it on here. I done muscle relaxation in bed it helped a lot. Things will get better James Debbie
thankyou debbie , day 5 now and im still actually worse than before i started taking them, , lets hope i see a change soon
Hi James, hang in there and try and accept its all part of the process you will settle, did you go back to 10mg?
yes im now on 10mg , ive not had the shakes and managed to eat a little , only a little but its progression , i do think jumping straight on 20mg was a bad move now , thankyou for your advice
yes i went up very slowly, I know you will probably be thinking you will be like this a while and it was the same for me i got worse before i got better and i have been off he medication a year now and got back to normal in around 4-6 months so try and stay positive. This forum is do good with people at different stages. Its good that your eating James even if it a small amount, You will get there you really will do will everyone else too. I got through my low time and came out stronger.
I know it's been mentioned a couple of times....but a short term benzo or a sleep aid would really help you get over this hurdle :) you should really speak to your GP.
i was googling that and saw the works vallium etc, kind of scared me a little although there effects seem like they would worth it , do you think thats something i could get a prescription for from a local walk in centre rather than attempting getting an appointment with my gp , it took me weeks last time
I was given them by an out of hours clinic. I'm not sure as everywhere is slightly different. I'm in Scotland. I was scared to take mine at first and felt like I was defeated each time I had to take one. They are honestly nothing to be scared of and they help to just relax you, not fully but enough to take the edge off. Diazepam is Valium I believe. I was only on 2mg up to 3 times daily. I very rarely took 3. Mostly 1 a day. I think it would help aid your sleep though. No harm in trying it right.
James if you call your gp first thing tomorrow and really go into detail of the urgency, they have to see you, I with given diazapam to help me on top of the meds, my doctor didnt want me on it longterm.
They really helped.
sorry for all messages you should start to feel alot better after a few days with dropping to 10mg, the half life is 35 hours which am guessing you have reached that.
i have some Propranolol beta blockers , they dont seem to help much if im honest , what do you mean by half life 35hrs?
Its how long it takes for 50% of the medication to be removed from your system once you reduced your dose. Citalopram takes about 35 hours, so by day 4 your since your dose change your system should only have 10mg of citalopram, hope that makes sense. In theory you should be feeling alot better by then.
i would be more scare of antidepressants then a benzo.
hello paula i understand the mathematics of the percentage of milligrams of the meds left in your system.what i dont understand is why they dont give or tell you time frame on how long the brain suffers?
im on day 3 now on 10mg day 6 in total and i dont want to jinx things but i am feeling better than yesterday, i am set to go back to work tomorrow so hopefully that will take my mind off it and also make the days go a little quicker , hopefully tire me out abit so i sleep better too
Hi Lois, When I spoke to a helpline that specialises in these types of meds, they said that it can vary from person to person, they said with my withdrawal it could take up to 2 years for my brain to settle. So I checked the internet, and it seems that the medical community do not recognise the brain problems caused by these, although there are tests going on out there and it is being talked about, so that could be why.
That is great news James, your not jinxing it you are feeling better :), do not be disappointed if you get the odd side effect from being on 20mg for a while longer. My parathesia in my right foot disappeared when I came off my meds 5 weeks ago, and its back today, I am confident it will go again, and am wondering if the alcohol I had yesterday has contributed as affects serotonin.
.so all though we diminished the chemicals of the drug the brain stays sketchy unbelievable!?
