Had first hip surgery 9/2017, after numerous problems with the device had to have it removed and a cement spacer placed in for temp two stage replacement. I developed cancer in the lymph node; after 3 rounds of chemo i would be able to finish the replacement of the hip. Now i have seen the surgeon and she said I can opt to keep the spacer a d take PT to learn how to walk with it .. keeping in mind now leg is at least 2-3 inches shorter. Has anyone else had this process done? How are you walking? Currently I am not weight bearing and use a walker and wheelchair.
Candi I’m sorry to hear this and me thinking my problem was bad
if i know what I know now back before I had the surgery I never would have done it . I never heard of what you are saying did you
have titanium at first?
Yes, I was dancing on a deck and my shoe got caught in an uneven board. I broke my femur and had to have a Stryker device put in. It was not fitted correctly and created all types of bone deterioration and deep bone infection. I had to find a new surgeon who would fix the mistake. I have been non weight bearing for almost a year!!
