Ich hatte heute Morgen zum ersten Mal eine obere Endoskopie. Sehr unangenehme Erfahrung (hatte nur Rachen-Spray), aber ich habe es einigermaßen gut überstanden.
Fast 12 Stunden später habe ich jetzt einen ziemlich dumpfen Schmerz in der Brust gehabt - fast genau in der Mitte meiner Brust. Er ist nicht ständig da, aber sehr unangenehm, besonders wenn ich etwas esse oder trinke, egal wie weich es ist.
Ich bin mir bewusst, dass nach diesem Eingriff einige Unannehmlichkeiten normal sind, aber wie viel ist normal, und wann sollte ich mir Sorgen machen (falls überhaupt)? Sie haben ziemlich viele Biopsien entnommen, also nehme ich an, dass dies ein Faktor für meine Unannehmlichkeiten ist - aber sollte ich mir überhaupt Sorgen machen?
Das ist ein Schmerz, den ich vor dem Eingriff überhaupt nicht hatte, er ist erst danach aufgetreten und ist immer noch da.

It will be all the air they pumped into your stomach to open it up during the procedure. It can sometimes hang around for a couple of days, causing a lot of pain. Occasionally, the biopsy can cause a bit of residual pain too, especially if it was taken from the oesophagus.
Danger signs are "coffee ground" vomit, or black, sticky, foul-smelling diarrhoea. Both of these are signs of internal bleeding but are very rare after endoscopy. If you don't have these signs, then don't worry about it, the pain will soon ease.

Hey Melissa just wanted to give you some kind of comment back so that you wouldn't feel alone. Hopefully you're feeling better now since your comment was 16 days ago but I'm currently going through the same. It probably is some extra air pain but at least two of my chest pain spots I know 100% are biopsy spots. I was not sedated and felt those two clips, very sharp pinches. I've been trying to find any info on how long it takes the biopsy spots to heal but no luck 🙁

Vielen Dank für deinen Beitrag. Ja, ich fühle mich definitiv besser. Falls es ein Trost ist, die ersten 2 Tage waren die schlimmsten, wobei das Unbehagen mit der Zeit immer besser wurde. Ich würde sagen, dass ich ab Tag 4-5 wieder ich selbst war. Ich hoffe, dass es dir sehr bald besser geht!

I had an endoscopy today and and 8 hours later my throat is very sore even from just drinking water. I also have a pain in my chest especially when I take a deep breath or move around. I have mild stomach pain but this I am putting down to air which was pumped in. Just really hoping it won’t last to long
Ich hatte eine Woche nach meiner Endoskopie Brustschmerzen/Druck und extreme Schluckbeschwerden. Es fühlte sich an, als würde eine wunde Stelle jedes Mal aufgeschürft, wenn Essen hinunterging, innerhalb weniger Sekunden nach dem Schlucken. Ich rief nach 3 Tagen das Arztbüro an und die Rezeptionistin / Krankenschwester schien besorgt und sagte, ich solle am nächsten Tag zurückrufen. Als ich es aber tat, sagte eine andere Rezeptionistin mir, ich solle mir keine Sorgen machen und dass es normal sei, dass es etwa eine Woche anhält. Das war, nachdem ich mehrere Jahre zuvor eine Endoskopie hatte, ohne irgendwelche Nachwirkungen und der Arzt mir sagte, dass es danach überhaupt keine Beschwerden geben sollte. Jedenfalls, nach viel Panik und Sorge, ließen die Schmerzen nach 8 Tagen schließlich nach und verschwanden dann ganz.
Ich hatte heute Morgen eine Ösophagogastroduodenoskopie. Alles schien in Ordnung, bis heute Nachmittag. Jetzt scheint es, dass ich jedes Mal, wenn ich schlucke, zwei separate Schmerzen in der Brust (oder Speiseröhre?) bekomme, wenn das, was ich geschluckt habe, seinen Weg in meinen Magen findet. Das passiert jedes Mal, wenn ich etwas schlucke - einschließlich Speichel und Wasser. Die Brust scheint auch sehr wund zu sein. Ist das normal? Sollte ich den Arzt anrufen? Ich mache mir Sorgen. Ich weiß nicht, ob es wichtig ist, aber ich weiß, dass er einige Biopsien entnommen hat.
Don't worry Claire, this is quite normal. And they always take biopsies during upper endoscopy. Give it time. It can take a couple of weeks to get back to normal. As a former nurse, I wish doctors would warn people about this. Their rationale is that if they tell patients about possible after-effects then they'll imagine they've got them. Instead, they tell patients nothing, leaving them to get into a panic when they do get after-effects.
Avoid eating bread and potatoes for at least the next few days, as both tend to have an abrasive effect on the oesophagus (especially bread, somewhat surprisingly). Just eat bland foods like soup and yoghourt for a few days and it will soon get better.

I had the upper endoscopy 5 days ago and now I can still feel the back/chest pain at night, it prevent me from falling asleep and very annoying.
I went to the urgent care clinic 2days ago, the doctor told me I have GERD, now I’m taking omeprazole and anti acid liquid, which can make me feel better but still can do nothing for my pain at night, is the pain you are having getting worse at night?

Ich habe auch Schmerzen nach meiner Endoskopie. Es sind etwa 4/5 Tage seit dem Eingriff vergangen, aber meine Brust/ mein Rücken tut immer noch sehr weh. Es fühlt sich an, als ob etwas in meiner Brust stecken würde, was das Atmen sehr schwer macht. Ich kann nicht trinken, essen oder sogar schlucken, ohne den Schmerz in der Brust zu spüren. Ich habe auch das ständige Bedürfnis zu rülpsen, begleitet von diesem Schmerz. Ich bin sehr unwohl und manchmal ist der Schmerz extrem schlimm. Ich frage mich, ob das normal ist und ich es abwarten sollte oder ob ich Hilfe suchen sollte.

Ich hatte vor zwei Tagen eine Ösophagogastroduodenoskopie. Am Tag des Eingriffs hatte ich keine Schmerzen, aber gestern und heute habe ich einen leichten Druck/Brustschmerz gespürt. Ich überlege, in die Notaufnahme zu gehen, da es ein Wochenendabend ist.
Ich mache mir vielleicht mehr Sorgen, als ich sollte, aber ich mache mir Sorgen, dass etwas nicht stimmt. Der Schmerz ist nicht schwerwiegend, aber er ist da und scheint dort zu sein, wo mein Magen und meine Speiseröhre aufeinandertreffen.
hi julia im wondering how you are going now??? i had an endoscopy yesterday and i felt fine all day but now today i get a pain where my esophagus and stomach meet, even when water passes by there!!! im so scared it wont go away

I also felt worse day or 2 after endoscopy. Chest,throat discomfort all came after and lasted for a couple of weeks.And this is without biopsy. I think people react differently to this kind of invasive procedure.

ah its driving me crazy with nerves, my back is aching as well and now throbs too. people definitely react differently i just hope no permanent damage was done to me… thank you
Hello everyone! I’m extremely thankful to have found this thread. I too just had a upper endoscopy procedure done this last Wednesday. In the recovery area I experienced uncomfortable chest pains and back pain. I asked if it was normal and my GI requested a CT scan to make sure I did not have a perforation (hole). Good news that came back good, but im still experiencing periodic chest pains on and off. My back has also been aching which is making sleep tough. I read through all your responses and am relieved to see its common. I am taking Omeprazole and Sacrflate to help heal my ulcers. Today I will slowly be transitioning into a normal diet. My family is telling me i had large polyps removed and clipped, and that its in shock and pissed so give it two weeks to get back to norm. Thank you all for your wisdom through experience on this. I wish doctors would ease our concerns with letting us know its normal so we’re not panicking thinking the worst. Im a jump to conclusions person so, that would of been helpful, but thank goodness for others like yall speaking out with their experiences. Take care and may you all have a speedy recovery.
