Chest pains

i have been having chest pain on n off for close to 5 weeks now slightly the the left of my chest with the odd pain in my left arm sometimes feeling sick and getting pain in my upper back and head. it is like a stabbing sort of pain. i have had multiple ECG's blood pressure tests and bloods done once over the past few weeks with the hospital saying it isnt heart related and not to worry however the pain seems to be getting worse and even a short walk now is causing me to get chest pains and shortness of breath. any advice? have seen multiple doctors over the past few weeks and none seem to be taking any action other than telling me not to worry about it.

Have you had a d-dimer blood test to eliminate a pulmonary embolism? It could be lung related if you are having breathing problems. It may be pleurisy. Have you had any nasty chest infections in the last few months?

as far as i am aware they just ran standard blood work to check for heart damage(troponin levels).

i have not had any chest infection nor have i had a cough etc.

To be on the safe side ask for a d-dimer blood test to rule out a PE. How old are you if you don’t mind me asking? They don’t generally take you too seriously about your heart if you are under 40 and otherwise in good health. Do you have any heart problems or diabetes in the family? It is worth mentioning to your doctor if you do. If you really think there is a problem, just keep pushing for an echocardiogram.

i am 27, i have never smoked rarely drink dont have any family history of heart problems so whenever i mention that i feel there might be an issue they keep saying my ecg’s are fine bloodworks fine and blood pressure perfect.

i have more blood work to be fone on friday so will ask about d-dimer.

thanks for you response

so after multiple visits to the doctors and a&e multiple ecgs blood tests etc they are now said it is anxiety pains but have not giving any medications for this also can anxiety pain really be this bad?

Did they give you a d-dimer?

they said they tested for blood clots and am guessing this is the d-dimer test? they done blood work for heart etc again all came back fine with only problem been my my liver result slightly higher than normal but said its nothing to worry about. the doctor has said it will be anxiety pains and to try relax and take it easy for a few weeks however i dont know what is triggering the anxiety as i dont feel anxious or show any other symptoms of anxiety other than the chest and upper back pain.

i have looked into having a private doctor check this over as i am not happy with my own doctors feedback to be honest

Do you have any digestion problems or central or right sided stomach ache? Does eating or not eating have any effect?

no stomach issues and no problems eating etc

I was wondering if you were getting the pain from your liver because that can give you back pain. Do pain killers help at all? Have you tried ibuprofen, paracetamol or codeine?

no pain from eating i have to go back in 3 weeks for more lft bloods for my liver. i have took ibuprofen for the past 2 weeks making no difference. i have a consultation with a private health care doctor next week so will see what they say

good luck, I hope everything sorts itself out so you can get back to normal.

just for anyone following or finding similar symptoms i have now had a refferal to have a stress test, echocardiogram and 24ecg done to rule out potential heart issues once this is done i will update this for people looking for answers to similar symptoms.
