Chronic Folliculitis: Atopic Dermatitis Might Be to Blame

Atopic dermatitis aka eczema is a genetic skin defect. It lacks certain built-in antimicrobial elements of the skin. If you have chronic folliculitis, this might be a reason why. FYI

Do you have this defective gene?  How does one get tested?

I have eczema, but it's fairly mild. I was told by a dermatologist that I have it. You can Google information about it to see symptoms and images.

Anita, I did not do any testing. Visual inspection from a dermatologist can determine if you have eczema. People with eczema are more at risk for folliculitis.

Thanks for your reply Sadie.  I will do more research on eczema.
