Citalopram and alcohol

I’m switching from 100mg Zoloft to celexa, to treat postpartum anxiety which is causing me a great deal of dizziness. Although I’m not convinced this is what’s causing the dizziness, anxiety can do that? Never been a symptom of anxiety in the past for me.  Anyways, just wondering if drinking a few glasses of wine a night will affect the effectiveness of the Celexa? I know it can cause drowsiness, which is fine bc I’d be home and trying to relax before bed. But want to make sure I’m not sabotaging the drug doing it’s job. Any thoughts?

SSRI's, and alcohol is a bad mix. Messing with the same gaba in the brain. Careful switching on the SSRI's as I did without proper tapering. Alot more side effects and symptoms. Just my experience on them. Do your homework. Alot of what I learned was the hard way and not researching everything about any med you take.

I wondered about tapering but the doctor said bc they’re both SSRIs I can just stop the Zoloft and start the Celexa. Should I do differently? I DO NOT need more issues with side effects!! Thanks for your reply!

For me, my psychiatrist was wrong on saying the same thing. Took me 8 months to get somewhat stabilized. It was very tough. It has been a learning experience over 25 year's with 3 different SSRI's, being in many large groups of others suffering the same thing and studying everything possible about these meds. The most being by experience and others. Eventually, one thing in common they all agreed on with some exceptions, Psychiatrists are clueless on proper way to taper or change fast to another. Just my experience in the ssri world. Others have said it saved there life. I once thought that to.
