Citalopram vs. Escitalopram

Hello everyone. I suffer with very bad anxiety I feel constantly sick and panicky. I also suffer with bad blushing. It makes me feel pretty down. I’m currently doing cbt. I’ve tried several antidepressants to help take the edge of it But I always seem to have side effects. I have tried Escitalopram but it gave me really awful tender breast pain. It’s very frustrating as it has been the best one. I tried it for 3 months. I’m wondering would it be worth trialing citalopram? Do you tend to get the same side effects? Sertraline made me constipated and couldn’t sleep! Fluoxetine was ok but no good for anxiety!

I find work so hard I just wish I could bring my brain down a notch. Any help is appreciated . Thanks!

Fluoxetine has helped me, but I suppose different drugs work differently for different people. I have been on fluoxetine for a long time at different doses and when I began struggling with anxiety and OCD in June of last year my dosage was increased from 20mg to 40mg. It’s taken a long time to start to feel better and a lot of advice on here was to stick with it and give it time, which I’m glad I did. I still have my struggles but it’s a lot better than it was which i’m grateful for. I have got a lot of information online from different websites and from Facebook too, so do reach out online as there is a lot of reassuring Information out there. There’s a website called ‘Healthunlocked’ which I’ve found particularly helpful as you can read about other people’s experiences and it helps you feel less alone.

Best of luck and take one day at a time. You will get better. It just takes time. :folded_hands::crossed_fingers:

I went through feeling anxious with a terrible feeling of impending doom a few months ago.

Speaking to the doctor about it, he suggested I do square breathing. That’s where you breathe in slowly to maybe a count of 3 and then breathe out the same.

It really does calm you down.
