I also have a sensitivity to ssris..I lasted two weeks on 20milligrams of celexa ..as soon as I was decrease all the nasty side effects started to subside..and it took me four months to see inprovements and 8 months to recover...
Thats encouraging that your side effects disappeared, I cant wait for that to happen and am expecting my recovery from withdrawal to take a long time too, its just so exhausting though, and feels never-ending.
Thanks so much for your replies, I feel more normal now over all this.
Yes Paula finding that sweet spot on celexa is the key here..
Well, I've certainly experienced the weight gain: 40 pounds in the 5 years I've been on 40 mg. of Citalopram. And, believe me, I wasn't exactly thin to begin with.
I haven't had any of the other side effects though, at least not once the initial side effects wore off.
Good luck! You are off tryptizol.
What is Citalorapram used for?
For me it was used for hot flushes. I have also come off propranolol, diazapam, robaxin, anti sickness meds and others, for migraines. Have to say am better off them.
Paula when I went on citalopram first time around in 2008, I gradually put on 3 stone in weight. I was on 20 mg. It really improved my mental condition but looking back, it completely killed my desire to exercise.... I just couldn't be bothered. So I really do think the weight gain is ssri connected.
Likewise short term memory problems.
Tinnitus likewise. Even increasing back up to 10mg I have noticed ringing in my ears. It's very odd, almost like I can hear my brain working.....
Thanks Ruth, I now know for sure my Tinnitus is down to citalorapram as it hasnt gone away since quitting amit. Weight gain is cita too. I have to reduce cita soon as I cant deal with ongoing side effects any longer, 3 years is long enough.
