I was taking 1 30mg codeine phosphate at bedtime for back pain, doc said too addictive so has prescribed co-codamol 30mg/500mg instead, I'm to take 2 of these each night. Surely this must be worse as I'm now taking 60mg of codeine phosphate. Is it me? Doesn't seem to make sense.

Ich würde mich an ein einfaches Schmerzmittel wie Paracetamol halten und sehen, wie es läuft. Lassen Sie das Codein weg, es ist ein schreckliches Medikament. Wenn Sie die Nebenwirkungen von Codein googeln, das ein Opiat und schlimmer als Heroin ist, werden Sie sehen, wie gefährlich es ist. Übrigens, wie lange nehmen Sie schon Codein ein?
I had a bunion and mortens nuroma op just before Christmas and was given 30 mg dose to take for the post op pain. I stopped this after about 3 weeks when pain subsided but because my back pain seems to be getting worse I haven't slept much for the last month or so. I know the codeine was helping me sleep so started taking one again at bedtime which has helped me sleep much better. But when I mentioned this to the doc that's when he said stop taking them and gave me the co-codamol instead!!

Tried all those Jane, they think it's because I've been walking so badly for last few years because my foot was so painful that it's thrown my back out. X rays done to get a clearer picture. We shall see. Xx

Defo get 2nd opinion!!! It's same thing!!! And you are right he's doubled dose and gave paracetamol?!?! I would agree will other comment also if you are only taking this low dose please try to consider not taking codeine at all?! I was put on it years ago and can not get off it because of withdrawals! 😖 Please don't go down that road if it can be helped ......... if you feel you need to defo take it then go back to just the one 30mg without paracetamol in if possible! And never increase the dose it's a horrible thing but from what I can see any strong pain killer is addictive?? So you're stuck if you are in a lot of pain 😔 Xx

Hi Jane it's very hard cold sweats I find the worst and that's why I always give in in the end! But also the restless legs the diarrhoea and the emotional side aswel. Have you ever been on codeine? If so how did you cope? I keep thinking of trying again and I need to do this I really do but I can't get any time off work and I'm scared of how I will cope! Xx

Ich hatte etwa drei saubere Nachthemden neben dem Bett bereit plus ein Handtuch, damit ich mich einfach abtrocknen und das Nachthemd wechseln konnte, um das Leben einfacher zu machen.
Der Rest war schwierig, aber ich rief Leute an, die ich kannte, um Unterstützung zu bekommen.
Ich wurde angewiesen, Magnesium oral einzunehmen, darin zu baden und auch viel Flüssigkeit zu trinken, um dieses Gift aus meinem Körper zu spülen. Ich aß auch gesund und nahm Paracetamol gegen schmerzende Muskeln. Nie wieder werde ich in meinem Leben ein weiteres Codein einnehmen. Viele Menschen scheitern daran, es abzusetzen, aufgrund der Entzugserscheinungen, aber was ist die Alternative?
Ich entschied, dass dieses Medikament, das für eine Schulterverletzung verschrieben wurde, reines Gift war und dass ich, um meinen Verstand wiederzuerlangen, es einfach absetzen musste. Es war verschrieben worden.

Well done 👏😊 I also think for me it's a lot the mental side of things I'm going through a rough time at the moment so tell myself I can't do it! ........but realistically how can it possibly help still taking them?! Hallo Dash, mir wurde auch gesagt, dass das Medikament mich unbewusst abhängig mache, sowohl körperlich als auch emotional. Mir wurde weiter gesagt, dass die Entzugserscheinungen Tricks seien, die mein Geist/Körper mir spielt, um mich dazu zu zwingen, mich mit mehr Codein aufzufüllen. All diese Mantras haben mich am Laufen gehalten und entschlossen, nicht nachzugeben.
Es ist schwer, aber erreichbar. Benzodiazepine sollen noch schlimmer sein. xxx
Immodium bei Durchfall. Ablenkung suchen. Warme Bäder mit Epsom-Salzen, Magnesiumöl auf schmerzende Muskeln sprühen, Magnesium oral einnehmen, um die Muskeln zu entspannen. Weigere dich, nachzugeben. Nimm die Kontrolle über dieses Medikament, anstatt dass es dich kontrolliert /mich.
Sogar eine winzige Dosis kann schwere Probleme verursachen.
Hi Dash, thanks for your comments, good to know it's not me and I am right to be concerned. think I will drop to 1 co-codamol tonight, if I still sleep ok I will try a couple of paracetamol tomorrow night instead.
