colon cancer or IBS?

I've been having some symptoms. a feeling of something being in the rectum, also nausea. what's interesting is that when I suddenly pass gas, the symptoms go away. my rectal area builds back up with gas again quickly, but this whole time I thought it was a lump, seems to not be. also I had a rectal exam the other day and he saw nothing, so... idk

if passing gas relieves my symptoms, its probably not cancer, right? when I pass gas the nausea goes away too. thanks

I have IBS and passing gas or having a bowel movement temporarily relieves pain. It sounds like IBS.  See your doctor for tests and diagnosis.

It sounds like IBS Tony, but if you are very worried you could arrange for the doctor to carry out further tests. I do think that if the nausea goes away when passing gas, it’s more likely to be IBS but your doctor is the best person to ask. Also, have you ever tried the low FODMAP diet?

Tony, I am nauseous all the time in the morning especially. I am right now and ready to take Ondesteron (Zofran). Aside from IBS, I also go in and out of ulcerated colitis attacks. I am presently on a medication for that. Whether it is IBS or UC, the symptoms are very close( less the bleeding of UC). So, your gas issue is not unusual. it's such a pain in the neck and there is nothing at all that I have taken or do that helps with that. I just wait until I get into a remission.   Rest assured that what you are describing is familiar so, unless you have had a colonoscopy and a biopsy that confirms a cancer diagnosis, I would not be too concerned. The doctor didn't see anything so, I wouldn't worry too much.  If this continues though, get a colonoscopy to confirm it.  My nausea also comes on during a bowel movement and then passes.  When I am in an IBS attack, and i had three doozies a few months ago, the precursor to my UC, it's bad and the attacks usually come around 1am and can last for hours. I spend a night in the bathroom throwing up and on the toilet. Those severe attacks come now and then and are bad.  So, gas is the least of your worries, trust me.  That nausea is a pain, you can get meds for that. Like I said, i take ondesteron from the MYLAN company. I like this particular one because it's a white pill that can be easily broken in half, sometimes a half will do it for me.  It  has a mint taste, melts in your mouth and works quickly. Other companies make them fruit flavored and those make me nauseous. So, CVS is really good at sticking with MYLAN and orders them special for me.  So, talk to your doctor about this drug and I would get some as a back up. Let me know how you are doing!
