Colonoscopy with enlarged prostate?

I assume its not a big deal but with all the drinking of fluids and pooping did it affect your prostate and your ability to pee in any way? Thanks in advance for your replies

There was no issue at all because of the prostate.  Don't worry!

Hello uncklefester - what a coincidence as I had a routine roto-rooter a month ago and asked the same question. It was fine - no problems (except for the prep which had me supplementing my bi-hourly nightime pees with hourly fruit explosions for a while ). But no issues at all with my 300gm beauty.

Thanks fellas. I was a bit worried all the fluids may trigger acute retensiion or something. Did you pee alot during the purge ?

Have you ever had a problem with acute urinary retention (AUR) related to fluid intake? If not, I wouldn't worry. If you're concerned, only advice is not to schedule the colonoscopy for a Friday as your personal urologist may be unreachable over the weekend just in case.

I drank the prep in stages over a 2 hour period rather than all at once. But the high pressure fluid purge was through the rectum. I did pee a bit more during the night but that part of the plumbing was not aggravated.

The prep didn't cause me any problems at all. If they give you general anesthesia, it could, but they rarely do that for colonoscopies

No problems with AUR, but peeing at night is more difficult than during the day. If I drink alot after supper I tend to pee multiple times over the course of an hour or 2. Then things settle down. I'm sure I'm getting some retention besause I pee maybe 150 ml go back bed and get up in 10 minutes and pee another 150 ml. This can go on for an hour or so. Maybe my kidneys are just producing more urine at that point. I drink mostly water and some decaf coffee

They do sedate you pretty heavy though. I think they call it twilight sedation. I assume that isn't considered general anesthesia

One more thing, at night flow rate can be pretty bad to just as good as during the day. I never really know how flow is going to be until I standing over the toilet. I sometimes think its a relaxation thing or maybe even sleep postion.

ITs not the same - they twilighted me and I don't remember a thing - but I had no problem peeing after
