Went to the gp today as really struggling with my anxiety. She's took me off 50mg sertraline and starting me on 20mg citalopram as I said I didn't want sertraline as it makes me feel wired and my symptoms are worse not better, been on sertraline for over a year and no improvement. What are people's views on citalopram I'm desperate to be better it's ruining my life so really hoping these will help. Also been referred to see if any therapy can help me. Weaning off sertraline for a week then start citalopram next Friday. Any experiences will be helpful. Thanks
I was on Citalopram for 7 years, i had side effects when i went on it but they settled after a couple of weeks. Everybody is different what works for one may not work for another.
I was on 10mg for the last couple of years.
Thanks for your. I'm not so concerned about the side effects I'm just wanting to know if they work. How did they make you feel?
Hi Lisa, I take 10mg of Citalopram and they have helped me. I don't get any panic attacks now and anxiety as lessened. It takes the edge off for me. The side effects are there for a couple of weeks, the meds usually take a few weeks to stablise in the body. Overall i feel so much better. Good luck.
Elizabeth.
I was severely depressed and anxiety, over a period of months i felt so much better, it definitely helped me.
I am taking Citalopram which I have done reluctantly as I do not like medication.
This anxiety and depression is not nice and very difficul to accept isn't it.
It is hell, it spoils quality of life, the only fortunate thing i console myself with is i don,t have disabilities and terminal illness, YET! I am torn about whether to go back on citalopram, i see my doctor Monday.
I wish you all the best for Monday let me know how it goes Ann,
Thankyou. I took my sewing machine over to my daughter today so she can hem her new curtains, it was nice to spend a couple of hours with her. A good day today!
That is so nice to hear.
I am so glad you have had a good day.
Thanks for letting me know.
I hope that I can move onwards and upwards from here fingers crossed.
It is nice to have someone to share, we are not alone. Good luck Christine.
Hi there. I'm switching from 40mg Citalopram to 50mg of Sertraline. Having suffered from anxiety for many years I think my body has become to used to Citalopram. I feel like I'm so detached from everyone and struggle remembering things that I know I can remember (if that makes sense). I'm on my first day of no citalopram as the doctor says I need to have two days off of it before starting the Sertraline. I know how most of you all may feel but from experience it does get better and I'm hoping its the same this time round for me.
