Confused about GS

Hello there..

I have recently been told I have elevated Bilirubin levels of 32.3, I have suffered over the last 18 months with various gastric problems and now see a very good GI (Dr Paine) My father has Haemochromotosis and when tested I carry one of those genes.. are these conditions related ? I am waiting for cortisol levels to come back and also have low vit D (29). Any advice would be helpful. My symptoms have been as follows:

fatigue

weight loss

loss of appetite

abdominal bloating/pain

right side rib pain (back)

nausea

dizziness

low mood.

thanks in advance 😘

thanks I will take a look at it. It really is difficult to deal with. I have only eaten porridge twice a day for the last 1w months and have fortisip to keep up my nutrition, I was told by my original GI that I had gastroparasis bit now they are leaving towards GS. Thanks again and wish you well soon 😁

For many of us with Gilberts some relief is obtainable with a careful diet.

For some, if you eliminate ALL spices and herbs the bilirubin level will drop after a few weeks.

I have proven this for myself.

Also what we eat affects us in many ways.

Check for a dairy allergy and a wheat allergy; both can cause quite severe bloating and an inability to digest dairy is very common.  I limit my dairy to just a drop of milk in tea and a small piece of cheese and this helps.

Then see these two BBC websites for the effects of food on mood.
