I was told that i am not pre menopausal but yet i have all the symtoms. Can some explain to me what is happening ? Does anyone have this issue? My hormones are wacked i have dizziness ,palpitations, acid restlessness , headaches period every two weeks, pain in my belly ..i do not know what to do again..please help someone..
Yes, what is happening is that we are finding that there are way too many doctors out there that are clueless!! They do all of their tests and tell us everything is normal! NO, nothing about what we are going through is NORMAL! They want to just put us all on antidepressants, anti anxiety drugs and then send us off to therapy because they think we're all nuts! And for a while, I thought I might just be until I found this forum. Thank God for this forum! We are not crazy, these symptoms are real! I have totally given up in western medicine regarding this problem as we will get nowhere with them. Homeopathy and better nutrition is what has helped me for the past 3 years. If you can find one near you, you may find some answers.. Good luck and God bless you!
These doctors need to have their license revoked! Why are they going around telling people that they are not in peri or in menopause when clearly that is the case. I had the same thing happen to me. It's infuriating! They are quick to say that it's not menopause but can't seem to tell you what it is! Makes no sense at all!
I think we all know in ourselves when we are entering peri/meno I didnt go to a doctor to get hormone tested because I knew in myself I was going through the change and it sounds like you are too xx
Hi Wen. this happens all too often - clueless doctors. Phone your surgery & ask them if they have a gp or nurse that specialises in meno/well woman issues & make an appt to see them instead of your regular gp. many surgeries have them nowadays. xx
Talk to your M.D. and get bloodwork to rule other conditions first
You are preaching to the choir there sister!
Wendy - go back to your doctor and ask, no, TELL him you want a 'full bloods', the works. Then get a print-out of the results. You can see for yourself then.
I found it very helpful. Though my doc was more concerned that my potassium level was 'raised' (by .1 - hardly life-threatening!) and my Cholesterol was raised too. Got a lecture about low fat diets 'blah, blah'.
Wendy,
Oneof the biggest errors that our physicians make is to not explain to woman that their bodies are entering a period of transition. This transition is full of fluxuations for our entire endoocrine system. All hormones effect one another. Unfortunately these changes are very difficult to spot in bloodwork at times, and it is impossible for a doctor to see what is actually happening within the cells throughout the body. This is part of the reason my doctors tell us that bloodwork isn't necessary. It often doesn't tell them much.
Apparently, you are at that age where you have eggs that are producing in an irratic way. This is what is causing the symptoms you describe. If you get a chance, look up a chart of what ovarian hormones look like when this transition begins. They are all over the place, up, down and sidways.
At this point in time, one of the best things you can do is everything possible to be good to your body. Lots of clean water, sleep, some exercise, whole foods and a good vitamin. Anything you can do to calm your mind is also helpful.
I know this doesn't sound like much, but it's the best I can offer for woman in perimenopause. None of this is pleasant, but it is very common.
That is so true blood test don't show we in peri menopause cause they fluctuate so much during this time..... I heard for the best reading you need to have blood test on 2nd day of your period..... otherwise we need to go according to our symptoms a woman just knows that something is going on in our body trust your instinct..... its a tough time ....
The VA and my civilian gyn both told me I was in peri based on Testing and I never told the VA about any symtoms. They called me after the tests came back to inform me of this
You need to see a gynecologist, not a gp. Find a gynecologist who will tell you you're in perimenopausal and then you won't be so confused. Btw, how old are you?
I am 42 an hav been to a gyno he put me on qulaira birth control which i never had b 4 bcuz i hav a sm cyst on my ovary. The birth control took a toll on me an i almost got a stroke.I stop taking it an since them i hav been in an out of hospital..anxiety , dizziness, palpitations tingling of arms an legs sinus issues an pain in my tummy also acid...i really do not knw what to do any more..blood wk r gd heart gd thyroid gd am very confused an i discharge like a clear gel sometimes...i hav all signs an symptoms of menopause but blood wk says differently
Birth control helps with minimizing the cyst. If that birth control pill didn't agree with you why didn't you go back to your doctor and get a different one? There are so many out there. How did you almost get a stroke? If anything you are perimenopause but your statement of almost got a stroke make no sense.
Well thats what i was told by d dr bcuz of the pressure to my head my both arms an legs went numb an i felt my tongue twisting..i did go back to d dr but he said am nt allow to take any birthcontrol bcuz of my reaction to it..
Oh dear, so I guess there's nothing you can do. All the symptoms you're describing and feeling are from peri-menopause. Maybe try a multivitamin, primrose oil, vitamin c, vitamin d3 and magnesium. These should help some.
I thank u so much for your advice an wod try anything but as all women we need to deal wit it but am tryin very hard...do appreciate the support ..
Wendy, now that you've given more of your story, some of this makes bettter sense. I also was 42 1/2 when I started having symptoms of perimenopause. My doctior also put me on a birth control pill. BOY THAT DIDN'T SET WELL on my system. I also stopped taking it.
So this sentence: "I stop taking it an since them i hav been in an out of hospital..anxiety , dizziness, palpitations tingling of arms an legs sinus issues an pain in my tummy also acid.." makes a lot of sense. A part of what you are now struggling with, is that the pill interferred with your normal production of all your hormones, and even displaced some of the estrogen, testo and progesterone your body was making. It also altered your FSH from your brain. So when a woman goes off the pill, it sometimes takes time for her body to readjust. This may not happen so profoundly with younger woman, who sometimes never skip a beat. But with "older" woman who systems are a little off kliter anyway, it can take a tole on your system.
I had this same experience when I went off the pill. Boy I didn't feel good for many months. It took awhile for me to get back into some corridinated rhythm again. I know this isn't what you want to hear, I didn't either. We both took the pill hoping it would straighten things out and make us feel like our old selves, and instead it made things worse while I was taking it, and also when I quit.
Get lots of rest, food food, reduce stress, and take a good mulitvitiman. Hang in there, there is light at the end of this tunnel.
Makes perfect sense.
I really do apprciate your advice an support i do wish with all the water am drinking that it washes away...lol ..am tryin my best i do thank u from d bottom of my heart for sharing your experience...
You are very welcome Wendy. Honestly I wish I didn't have my past experience to share! It sure wasn't pleasant. But I will finish with the end of my story with that light at the end of the tunnel. When I did start to rebound, my periods found their way back to semi normal. I continued for nearly the next ten years with them. Got back to feeling good again, and looked wonderful. The cycles weren't as profound, with as dramatic of swings. Solwly they tapered. First it was one every two months, then every three, and finally 1 every six months until they stopped completely. Menopause was actually a breeze. No hot flashes or night sweats, those only happened in perimenopause.
But hold on because menopause is not a short term thing and then it's done and over with. It is a life long state, with continued changes. I am now 59 and have been in menopausal for 7 years. Even in menopause your ovaries do produce some hormones, but certainly not enough to give us back our yourthful skin, energy and zest.
Enjoy what you have right now, even if at times, it drives you crazy.
