Confusing sciatica pain with PMR pain

Since we've gotten off into subject of the  awful pain of sciatica and the fact that it can last so long....does anyone besides me have trouble telling the difference between sciatica or low back problems and PMR? I'm not sure which is which sometimes and hesitate to increase the pred for what might be different pain.

PMR pains would be Pred responsive, so if you did increase the dose and the pain didn't go away, it's probably not PMR so you can then reduce the dose fairly quickly - a few days on a higher dose is not really a problem in the grand scheme of things.

Had the same problem a few months back - went to the GP who said sciatica as the preds did not do anything when I increased them.  Went back slowly to dose when pain started and put up with it for around 3 weeks before it subsided. It was not the same as PMR pain.

The pain in both is horrendous, but the sciatica is in one leg only all the way up the back of it, while PMR in my case is both sides mainly on the thighs and hips, also across the front, unlike the sciatica. I find the PMR pain is very different too.

The sciatica was in one leg when it was in full swing but

it's not that bad all the time...anyhow I also have a twisted

right pelvis that causes some numbness and pain in butt

and legs and feet.  I told the chiro once day that my legs

were stiff and he put me face down and bent my legs at

knees and pushed down ...OMG...very painful and

my legs hurt for three days.  I told him when I went back in to

NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!   So really wonder if that was

caused by inflammation in leg muscles (it was definitely muscle

related) or something to do with back......Tis a pickle but

trying to get some idea of how to tell.  Keep reading the post

you guys send and learn something new.....

Today mine is not too bad, I have actually had quite a lazy day so I don't know if it is better if I slow down.
