I have had HSV2 for 6 years. I have used suppressive medication (acyclovir) on and off during that time and up until now it has controlled my outbreaks well. I have also been able to go long periods without medication and no outbreak.
However, I have recently moved country to the USA and have found I am expriencing completely new symptoms.
For the past couple of months, I have been getting leg and bum pains, which have in the past happened the day before an outbreak. (My outbreaks are unusual - I get one bump/cut which doesn't usually hurt too much) Now though, I have been experiencing pain for about 4 weeks with no outbreak. Every morning the pain is in a different place - one hip, the other leg or sometimes throbbing in my labia. It seems to be worse when I sit down a lot - like driving for a long time.
Today I have very achy hips on the front, where the crease is. I have never had this type of deep muscle ache before and I'm trying to figure out if it is the HSV2 or unrelated. I am taking acyclovir 800mg p/d at the moment, having vitamins and eating and sleeping better than ever before, which is why it seems so strange to me! I feel completely fine in every other way.
Does anyone have any experience like this? Or any ideas what's going on?? I just don't get how my reaction to the HSV could change so much without any obvious triggers. Nothing I'm trying to help the aches and pains is working
Confused i was just diagnosed 3 weeks ago and one of my symptoms was leg pain. I had one bump/pimple but the leg pain hurt worse. It went from right to left but mainly in left leg/foot. Leg pain started before i got bump down below. Dr kept saying it was nerve because i go to gym everyday but now it all makes sense and nerve pain is one of the signs
Hey - well I have had 2 long term relationships during that 6 years and it's been fine. I have and haven't used condoms with my boyfriends as the acyclovir was working well and I didn't have any symptoms. The annoying thing is I've just started seeing someone new - I've told him about it but I'm really nervous because of these unusual pains. I don't know if this means I am shedding or not and its making me super paranoid and down. I haven't usually worried about the shedding stage, but now I am a lot more.
I have a doctors appointment booked to get more acyclovir and to ask them about the pain I'm feeling. I really just hope I won't keep having the pain long term because it's a constant reminder and I worry about being intimate, which is horrible.
I wish you all the best - I haven't found that it has (up until now) really impacted my sex life. Hopefully your body will build up immunity and you won't have many outbreaks.
Hey - are you still getting pains now 3 weeks in? And are you getting them ever without an outbreak?
Also, how long was it before the pain moved from one leg to another? After a few days? Mine seems to move literally every day - and each place it's quite bad, and then it goes somewhere else! So weird
Yes im still getting the nerve pain in my legs. They are not as bad now. I would go to sleep with pain in one leg and wake up other leg hurting but majority of the time its in my right leg and my outbreak was on right side of my labia. It is weird. I have read that u can have nerve pain months after yoyr outbreak has cleared up but that it gets better and for me it has. Some data now i feel no pain at all.
Merci beaucoup.
Maybe that explains why I get bad headaches. My thighs ache here and there so maybe that mean I'm shedding. I don't like the medicine bc I lost my appetite I didn't eat for days, so I been taking vitamin C, lysine, St john's worts daily. I need to do more research on shedding.
Hey, this may sound weird but I was thinking about you. How are you doing and is your first OB over? I feel great as of now with just taking the herbals and vitamins. I'm just taking it for what it is and try not to stress about it. I refuse to take those pills bc I lost my appetite I didn't eat for like 4 days and lost 5lbs I was more worried at my appetite then the herpes. I'm also taking espom salt baths once a month just bc. I'm trying my hardest to avoid another OB.
I know I'm early with this but I think with the vitamins and a good diet we will be fine.
Are you still having the pain issue? Did you find out why our a resolution? I have the same issue with my hip. It gets so painful that I cannot move at times. Sometimes an outbreak follows, and sometimes it doesn't. I start the Acyclovir when i start to feel the actual outbreak.
Yes, it is related. My first outbreak was two years ago a rash on my hunny only and never any sores. I have Sacral herpes still hsv 2 and my symptoms are burning on the back of my legs, sometimes other areas and my hunny, it feels like a hot iron of someone putting it on me then taking it off, crawling in my skin at first, but no longer happens and pain in my knees and pain in my left arm in my deltoid. I take olive leaf pills and coconut pills from health store.
I take pain pills edcedrin pm to sleep off pain in the beginning and Epsom salt baths. Olive leaf pills and coconut oil pills from health food store. I went to the neurologist and the lady said I was crazy from the symptoms I told her well she don’t have so she don’t get it. I’m looking for another Neurologist to help me with the nerve damage. I know that is what it is, but need someone to listen.
Yes, it’s related. Acyclovir should in my opinion be taken only when you have an outbreak. If that med is taken on a daily it will started to kill your immune system. Let your body work it out and build up antibodies. coconut oil can be put on the body and digest to heal internally. I do both to try to calm the burning on my body. I been living with this for two years. Also, Epsom salt baths work.
