Does IBS cause constant tiredness or tiredness is related to something else. Since I have had my Bell`s Palsy experience...I have lost my normal and usual energy...I feel my body is screaming at me through showing unrelenting symptoms of tiredness, As soon as I am on my feet my leg muscles start aching and I feel my head is getting very foggy and my eye- lids getting heavy too.. I just cannot keep my eyes open.....in some early hours of the morning I wake up wit a cold sweat and palpitations....and this has been going on for months like this. My GP has given me propranolol 10mg+diazepam 5mg. But I still get more tired and tired....!! I am in a real pickle again!!! Any suggestions??
Tiredness can also be associated with Thyroid problems. I'm surprised your GP hasn't suggested a blood test.
If you haven't had the appropriate blood panels..get them done..IMO the meds prescribed exerbate your condition.....and they cannot be stopped cold turkey. Has your bells palsey resolved? Claudio
I have had it done...and it came out ok.!! But I am still very tired...
What is "blood panels"?? My Bell`s Palsy has gone , but I still have problems with my left eye...it feels tired and wants to close. And I still have some off the centre lips a slight skewness look!
The medication you take can cause most of what is wrong, so you need to tell your GP. IBS can make you feel bloated tired not well, but most of what your saying like waking up sweating, feeling tired foggy feeling, that sounds to me to be drug related.
Until you get off the tranquilizers and beta blockers it will be impossible to tackle those symptoms head on, as they can be mimicked and aggravated by the drugs.
How old are you? The symptoms coul just be menopausal and will resolve themselves wthout 'treatment' once you know they are normal and not some sinister sign of somethign malign.
Finally, any sort of exclusion diet can cause mental disturbances if you become deficient esp in the B vits. Also coconut oil can cause all sorts of upsets in certain people and it can take ages for that penny to drop.
Don't know if any of that helps?
Blood panels that target your conditon..such as TSH (thyroid), liver enzymes etc.
Those of us who have some tracking ability cannot suggest much because of the anti depressants...again, they excerbate your condition and you'll need help to terminate use....Very Happy to learn most of the palsy has gone away...this I can suggest a thought..... do as much "walking" as possible...looking straight ahead as well.Know this will be difficult with your lethargic condition but its far better than medications.
we have 3 bands of nerves along each side of our head behind the ear...one is facial...the others are hearing and balance. a variety of reasons this nerve "acts up"......suggested exercise has had very good success..Who diagnosed your bells palsy and what diagnostics..i.e. MRI w/contrast? And sooner than later, get an appointment with dr/s (2nd opinion if possible) regarding these anti depressants...

I did not know that coconut oil can be a problem! I have been on drinking coconut milk and use coconut oil in my cooking!! This American (Turkish origin) Dr Mehmet Oz talks very highly of the coconut oil goodness.!!
I am almost 75 and a male pensioner. I have been taking multi- vitamins regularly when I can. I have been taking tranquilizers to stop my panic attacks lately and also help me sleep better...I hope>>>!! My GP insist on reducing my HP first.so I keep taking blood pressure reducing tablets every day. Thank you for your reply. According to my GPs there is nothing sinister to worry about my I do worry quite a bit.
I really do not know what is happening to my body and mind lately. If I had the money I would perhaps find someone on the private consultation but they are too expensive...and again can one trust any of them...!! This fogginess started after my Bell`s Palsy and a lumber puncture...!!
I also have tinnitus...which is a hell in my head!! It affects my balance too. My Bell`s Palsy was diagnosed by my GP and the hospital staff. To get a second opinion..is also so confusing at the surgery that I was registered with...as they all seem to play a different tune none of which really helps.!! The referrals are also difficult as the surgery is mainly saving money....they rather fob you off with various pills!! I need a neurologist to assess me properly..really speaking. I have a strong belief that there is a nerve damage or a blood circulation problem...when one is poor...there is not much one can do really...!! I notice that my veins in my hands, arms, neck and feet are bulging and getting so prominent!! They say it is normal as I am getting older...!!! It is so hard for me to finding the right course of action!!
Unfortunately you are correct...once we reach a certain age its no longer remedy but a money policy. Your condition mimimi'sc an accoustic neuroma..and I suspect they know it....cure? one known method..the cyber knife.
If you haven't reached the "disposalble" age,...if you have..its "wait and watch or anti depressants....hoping to put one into the twilight zone.
But us "disposables" have some heavenly protection mechanisms....these neuromas that surface at our age "can" grow and recede...and since your bell palsey symptoms are waning...could be a neuroma receding? Of course a diagnosis is needed..MRI.
There is a pretty good video from the el camino hosptial describing the cyber knife...if you have an interest...I'll find a link..the hosptial is in silicon valley where most of the big .com kahuna's park their bmw's, not yahoo or google...ex's use limos. Claudio
Your not going to get anyone any better then the NHS in the UK, most of those who work in the private sector will be working for the NHS.
I notice you say you have Tinnitus again this would be drug related, the medication you take can cause this.
Blood issues well again the medication your taking can affect your blood so yes it could be, nerve damage I doubt it to be honest but the only way to know for sure is to ask for a second opinion.
You do know you can ask for a second opinion and your GP would then send you to another consultant for him to have a look, but to be honest you need to see your GP explain the issues he/she has to be your first port of call and if your GP is no good change them.
The only person you should be taking notice is your GP, he or she will know all about you we can only give you advice we thing will help.
What your taking, coconut oils or Milk ask your GP he'll tell you, keep on taking your medication do not stop it no matter who on here tells you.
Just stopping any medication without advice from your doctor would be dangerous . If your worried about anything like diet or medication phone your GP make an appointment.
You have been thought a lot and I think your body maybe tired and getting over a lot and this may be the issue.
Please see your GP to make sure for god sake do not take advice from anyone on these site without asking your GP first.
Clarifications...there are two types of coconut oil...
one: VCO (virgin coconut oil) this is unprocessed, not heated
two: processed or refined...removes all of the good bioactive nutrients....
From a 2004 biochem University study:
VCO obtained by wet process has a beneficial effect in lowering lipid components compared to CO. It reduced total cholesterol, triglycerides, phospholipids, LDL, and VLDL cholesterol levels and increased HDL cholesterol in serum and tissues. The PF of virgin coconut oil was also found to be capable of preventing in vitro LDL oxidation with reduced carbonyl formation
one other area:
Weight and girth studies show a reduction vs and increase consuming VCO.
btw...studies = primary sourced only

Even I show interest for your "cyber knife"...I live in Britain.
My tinnitus started a long time ago before what I have been going through today. I shall carry on fighting somehow.!! There is also a narrowing blood vessel behind my ear and they think this is the cause of my pulsating tinnitus apart from the normal one. They suggested that I should go through what is called "Styloidectomy!"...which is scary and the result is not quite clear. So, I did not accept it. They would drill into my skull and there is a possibility that more nerve damage can occur...!! I cannot win ..it seems at present!! It is so bad to live alone...no one to turn to when things are really bad!! I live 5 minute ride from Addenbrooke`s hospital. When in panic.....I go to the A&E as a last resort...and they cannot help either.!! The panic usually happens at night.....I do not really feel happy nor confident to be able to sort these awful persistent symptoms!!!
where can one obtain VCO??
Kokona, on a few other UK forums they have mentioned amazon and local health food stores...I'd send you some but its heavy stuff...vco meaning virgin coconut oil...looks like wax until room temp..
You are dead on correct again...a neuro should sort out your problemsI am a MND (Motor Neuron Disease) student at age 78...at it for over 2 years. Should ask a few questiions..such as..any hearing loss that your sure of?..high or treble shounds a tad difficult to distinquish? What's puzziling for me is that Bells Palsy was diagnosed without a thin slice MRI? (you didn't menntion it so probably not done"...Bells Palsy prognosis in most cases revolve at least 80 to 90% of the time...the numero uno suspect is "viral" (herpe)...but your symptoms you say like tinnitus began before your anti depressants..put that together with balance...leads one to consider a neuroma...the 7th cranial nerve is complex for me...has among motor neurons but sensory fibers as well...I'm not familiar with the suggested surgery...I'll look into it and get back to you.
Off topic...I received a private e mail from a member of patient and my pc virus protection went "nuts"..since then, I've had communication problems...will sort it out..soon hopefully.
Know too you are above average intelligent and will follow your good intellect to sortout your problems with some help..from those with some knowledge/experience...OK, two last questiions...has your GP modified your anti depressants since you initial dosage? reason for asking...yes as we age, metabolism slows considerably...And your Bells Palsy...onset...upper (forehead) or lower..tongue mouth etc.And ...Claudio
Hi Kokona, like the name,
I've not come across these tired symptoms with Bells Palsy. If you've IBS diarrhea, its possible you've lost or losing electrolytes and maybe sodium as well.
I want only to address the IBS asociation...if you have the constipation or more of it than the other, then this electrolyte loss is not implicated. Ann
