I need some serious help. I’m 22 years old, and for the past 3 years, I’ve been getting a UTI almost TWICE a month. I’m starting to go mad. And it is severely depressing me. No doctor takes me seriously. I’ve been to family doctors, and gynecologists. None of which have proved to be helpful. They just stick me with a new antibiotic and call it good. Never trying to find the source of all this. I NEVER use to get UTIs. What triggered this? I do everything the doctors say. Cranberry pills, cotton underwear, wipe front to back, peeing after intercourse, etc. nothing ever helps to prevent them. I don’t have an STD, and I’m not pregnant.
I have a raging UTI right now, this is my 3rd day of being on ciprofloxacin, and I feel worse than I did the first day. Please...! Does anyone have a story similar to mine where the doctors actually found what was causing them? I’m so desperate at this time, and really hating my life. 😞 your help and experiences will help me more than you know. I’m becoming a very resentful and sad person.
Generally UTI starts with small bacteria, which enters grow up and mould into infection. UTI doesn't enter from outside, it is developed in our body only. In female the bacteria like e coil presence is high, due to this, such bacteria may develop into infection. First of all you should diagnosis that through blood and urine.
Please don't neglect it, it may leads to chronic renal failure. use medicination seriously on the basis of diagnosis reports.
I'm in the same boat as you, im 23 and have been having them constantly for the past year! Just keep getting different antibiotics. Am going to get an ultrasound on my bladder once this bout flares up, but not sure what good that will do. I'm starting to get severely depressed from this, I wish you the best & hopefully we can both get some answers.
Try getting utis for over 40 years like me , and the doctors never found out what caused them . It could take time to find an antibiotic that works for you , I was good with Septra at first , then it stopped working , Cipro next , worked well for several years then stopped , now it’s Macrobid . What really made a difference for me is D Mannose . I take a teaspoon in water 3 times a day for prevention , and I haven’t had a uti in months , fingers crossed . See that you have a good painkiller on hand , Azo works for me . At least it makes the pain bearable . Good luck !
Wishing you the best! This stuff is just terrible. We need some answers.
I am also 22 and have very very frequent utis ... the one i have now has been here for roughly 5-6 weeks. I am waiting to see my urologist so they can do stop test and see what exactly is causing the symptoms . I am mixing apple cider vinegar with OJ and taking a probiotic once a day and the symptoms are not as extreme.. idk if it’s a placebo effect or what but it’s worth a shot at this point. My life has been miserable and a total stand still. I have a two year old and i hate not being able to run and play with her because I’m always in some kind of pain. Very depressing
Hi everyone!
I wanted to let you all know my gyno figured something out today, and it could very well be the culprit to all my “UTI problems.”
My gyno checked many of my past cultures that had been taken by previous doctors, only a few came up positive for UTI infection. Most showed negative for any growth. Not only that, but I’ve been put on antibiotics by every doctor that took a culture, and never gave me a call back to let me know that it was negative! My gyno said I’ve been having yeast infections, and my doctors have only been making them worse, because antibiotics kill all the good bacteria, leaving my body exposed to a worse yeast infection.
My gyno thinks this is why I keep getting the burning urination and tenderness so often... because it’s an untreated yeast infection that has been left untreated for years and years. Not one doctor I’ve been to has suggested that it might be a yeast infection. So the antibiotics have only made me feel worse. Make sure you’re doctor is checking for a yeast infection before he puts you on antibiotics!!!! And make sure he calls you back about your culture so that you can know!!! If it’s a yeast infection, just go get some yeast medicine. It’s over the counter and SO EASY TO TREAT.
I’m praying this is my answer to all my problems. Fingers crossed, and I guess we’ll see!
That's great! Please keep us updated how you go with the yeast infection treatment. I went and had a vaginal swab yesterday because I found out a lot of my samples came back negative for infection too, yet i was put on antibiotics every time as well! Have you had any itching or discharge that would make you think you have a yeast infection?
Also was your culture positive for this bout of symptoms?
I think you need to go see a uro gynecologist
They can help you. Thays what I had to do
Do you get cultures done?
My wife and I BOTH had an E coli infection but I have a shrewd suspicion that bug was not eliminated between us and continued to thrive now and again. We both went to our GP's together and got somewhere then because the lady GP had a husband who was the top Gyni surgeon.... I wonder if they compared notes in their spare time? Some doctors and so call urologists firmly believe that a man will not transmit an infection to his partner especially if she is a wife! I and others ( specialist nurse) ask the question how on earth then does one acquire a STD now called an STI I believe.......
No one can see them with the naked eye but they are there alright so if you feel you know your own body ( that bit is very important) Insist that you have your problems resolved..... I have learnt that it may be propitious to write a letter to whom it may concern stating your feelings on what is important to you.
It was once said to me by a well meaning doctor that I should stop taking all antibiotics I was taking. She said that waterworks infections won't kill you but C Diff can..... That was the very reason I took three days
worth of Metronidazole which kills C Diff!
I would not reccomend self prescription but I would insist the powers that be get tot eh root of your problem - hook or by crook as they say!
Ugh I'm sorry UTI's are the absolute worst! I was having the same problem a year ago where I was getting constant UTI's. It didn't make any sense! Apparently my body was just incredibly susceptible to them or at least that's what I gathered from getting them so often. My roommate had been taking the Cystex Maintenance and it seriously worked wonders. Its just a few sips in the morning before I go to work and I have been UTI free for four months! I also upped my water game and tried getting on a healthier schedule food wise.
So sorry to hear this! I had the same problem a while ago and it was literally the worst. UTIs every month with no end in site. I totally second the d-mannose comment. It worked like a charm for me.
If you're looking for a good brand, I've tried a number of the powders, which were ok but pretty awkward to eat and bring to work with me. I ended up finding Dose chocolate (dosechocolate.com), which makes dark chocolate bars made with d-mannose!
They are great and I'm able to take them whenever. Great to be able to eat chocolate to fight those UTIs.
Also happy to share some scientific literature if you're interested -- or do a quick search for d-mannose on a scientific paper website like Pubmed.
Hope you feel better! There's definitely light at the end of the tunnel!
D manose ids OK but if an infection is present D manose and any other 'natural' treatment does not seem to work....... When you have a UTI the sufferer will try anything. For some time now the medical profession avoid giving antibiotics regarding resistance to them. Arguably these doctors have caused the problem inadvertently maybe but short courses of antibiotics may well have been the culprit. Taking antibiotics for a short time may have left behind microbes that became resistant. The medical profession is still debating how strong and for how long must an antibiotic be taken to eradicate all the offending microbes. Some microbes are hard to kill there is no question about that but how many patients are 'tested' as regards the efficacy of the course of antibiotics they took?
Microbes have been alive and want to continue with their lives for thousands of years......... One day there will be a magic bullet in the form of a pill ????????
Hey,
I've had issues with UTI's/ UTI like symptoms for the past 3 months.
Around the same time each month since March this year, I have experienced your typical UTI symptoms - strong urge to urinate, burning during and after peeing, mild pelvic/bladder discomfort (and even blood in the urine for my "second" UTI in April). 2 weeks ago I experienced the same symptoms again, went to the doctor, was prescribed antibiotics (just like the previous two times) and this time they even did a urine culture - BUT, the culture was a 'negative' result, meaning there was no bacteria present - at least that's my understanding. The antibiotics always clear things up within a day or two, yet this keeps coming back around the same time each month - about 3-4 weeks after I finish the antibiotics!
Antibiotics that I have had are: Selexid and Furadantin.
I have tried everything from regularly drinking cranberry juice, taking cranberry supplements, peeing after sex and washing after sex, wiping front to back.... it goes on.
Now I am here two weeks after my last doctor's visit, experiencing the burning sensation after I pee and bladder/pelvic discomfort once again..... Going back to the doctor tomorrow to discuss the results of the culture!
I have no idea what is going wrong or what is causing the issues 😦
i had uti too but i am free.
I have being battling with vagina infections for years. Tired different treatments all to no avail. But today with a Chinese product I am free. If you will like to know the product and purchase it. Drop your comments.
Be happy and trust in your doctor, what you have is nothing too serious. Tablets generally cause body symptoms but over time as the body adjusts to the medication, things turn out for good. Remain consistent.
Oh RyIlee Im so sorry to hear your story. I don't have a very happy story myself. I had my first UTI at 12 years of age. I'm now 72 years old and still experiencing them. All my life I have suffered with them. It's now to the point that my bacteria is resistant to most anti-biotics. I have just finished my third UTI since late April. the bacteria I have now is very dangerous and life threatening. I was put on Nitrofurantoin 100 mg for 7 days and almost a last resort pill Levofloxacin 500mg for 5 days. Now I'm just waiting to see if the latter pill worked. Chances are it won't work. I hope someday they will come up with a cure but it will probably be too late for me. Keep positive and fight this terrible disease. God Bless You.
I feel your pain. 60 years I have suffered also. Most drugs don't work on me and I have been taking last resort anti-biotics now. I have tried d-Mannose but never worked for me. But we still need to stay strong and fight this terrible disease. God Bless
