Hi everyone
I still cannot get this constipation resolved.
5 weeks to surgery and I am really worried .
Going to see the stomach doctor in two weeks.
Any ideas would help?
I tried mirakax, stool softener, magnesium, and laxatives.'

I ended up using Linzess. I tried everything, somethings use to work on me then they stoped.
I have IBS, and I really have a hard time going. I have went as long as 3 weeks. This was prior to surgery. I still do not get a normal urge unless I take something.
The Linzess really does work for me. Have you heard of it? It is a prescription.
I'm very heathy otherwise, heathy weight, walk a lot, eat fresh fruit and vegetable everyday, but still have this very frustrating problem. I feel your pain.
Hi I am 4 months post op and constipation is my major ongoing issue. I think softeners and bulk is key. For me it's smoothies nightly with prunes, lactulose - I take six tablespoons and whatever fruit. It's also visiting the tioilet at a regular time daily even if you don't need until routine kicks in. Also walk plenty. I am obsessed with eating things which help, weetabix daily, no white bread pasta etc or anything which clogs you up. It does take a few days to get started and you've got to do it daily so persevere. Good luck x
Oh and of course 2l of water daily is a must x
You would benefit from an enema which they will give you one before your surgery if you're constipated so don't worry. Just let them know because you don't have to take full responsibility to clear your bowel prior to an operation.
Bulk is my method too :D
prunes, crushed, roasted flaxseed and oat bran and 3 litres of water (movical as required).
There have been studies showing prunes are as effective as some laxatives.
I think you have to be relentless with this, for me even small changes will lead to my stool hardening.
Yes indeed relentless is the word. I struggle with 2l water but would love to manage 3 - well done you! Looking to increase my walking then jogging in next few months when weather improves and this should help too. Turning into my gran bless her, obsessed with bowels 😊
The side benefits of so much fluid is really works as an appetite suppressant lol
need to remember to ask the dr when I can go back to yoga
