Following the loss of a parent 6 months ago I have been experiencing almost daily anxiety and panic attacks at least twice a week. Went to the ER with the first three convinced I was having a heart attack, but normal ekg, X-ray, and blood work. My panic attacks cause extreme teeth chattering shaking along with all the normal symptoms. I wake up almost every morning with anxiety and can’t seem to function daily like I use too. I don’t have health insurance. I just need some advice as to if I might could work this out on my own or if I do need to seek help. Any kind words would be greatly appreciated.
I understand your pain. My anxiety and panic attacks started 5 months ago after the death of a parent. I was so scared. Had to go to the ER multiple times. Like you I also have no insurance. Luckily, I found a Primary doctor who was very cheap, and sometimes doesn't even charge me. Im currently on 3 medications for anxiety. I definitely couldnt do it on my own. While the meds help a lot, I still have anxiety daily, but not near as bad as it was. I've been through sooo much, so if you have any questions, dont be afraid to ask! I have probably had every single symptom known to anxiety.
On a positive note, just know you will be ok. And youre not alone.
Thank you so much. It helps to know that I won’t feel like this forever. What medications are you taking, if I may ask? The ER gave me a prescription for a few Xanax and they help tremendously but I only take them if I can’t stop the panic attacks(sometimes I have “rolling” panic attacks).
this is grievance you're going through have you been to a bereavement councellor I suggest you go and talk to one
goid luck xx
HI what medication are you on
Hi Melissa. My mother and only brother died in 2017 two days apart (unrelated causes). Combined with that I am locked up in a bitter estate battle with my only living family member-an estranged sister. My anxiety attacks have been brought on by that. The grief over the deaths and anxiety over my sister and legal actions are powerful causes of anxiety attacks.
I've been helped by seeing a therapist (I'm 63 and this is the first therapist I've seen I can really relate to). I'm also on 20 mg of Paxil daily since I was diagnosed with clinical depression at 38-this helps. I have some Xanax, but you need to be cautious with those-you can become dependent on them and withdrawal is bad news. I only take .25 Xanax a day, just to help me sleep at night.
It is NEVER a bad idea to see a therapist when you going through a rough period. Grief from the death of a parent is palpable, it's tough to get over. I don't know if you have a partner you can talk to-fortunately, I can talk with my wife who also lost her mother this year. We help each other out be being a listening ear. A good therapist can help you immensely during your period of grief. God bless you and help you get through this period.
